Not in my case. I qualified for 1MM a few months ago, so I’ll end the year with about 1,000,050 BIS. I’m guessing I’ll be at around 100,100 BIS by the time my 1K expires. So, the time would be ideal to split my flying, not worry about top tier on any airline, buy more discounted front cabin fares, and have a better array of options for when I buy Y.

So the big question for me as I start to think about what to do about 2021 status, is when American will make it's declaration of status requirements for EXP.
Based upon old posts I'm seeing on Boardingarea, it appears articles were first written on Nov 5, 2018 for 2020 status earned through 2019.
With that in mind, I guess we'll know in about 3 weeks what AA intends to do.

I wouldn’t bet the farm on it but I have no inside information, just the sour memories of past program “enhancement” announcements that arrive whenever.....
