You can get most of the benefits of Gold via credit cards now. So, generally, if you are planning on flying enough to justify the annual fees but not enough to gain status the normal way I would say the cards are a better deal. IMHO lifetime gold is only really useful if you take 1-2 AA flights a year.

Really I was just wondering if I'd get something at the next million coming up. I guess not.
Since you (now) have a little over 5.6MM, you need nearly 300,000 (BIS) miles to reach that plateau--based on your high numbers, that should be in a week or so.:D:D:D |

Dissenting opinion
I am 115,000 miles from 2MM, no longer fly as much as I used to (good thing), but value PLT status for leisure / award travel as I get older, do less business travel, approach retirement.
Aside from MCE and early boarding (6'2" person does not fit in a standard economy seat, never check bags), avoiding the kettle security lines, priority in standby lists - particularly during IRROPS can be a BIG DEAL - particularly as the frequency of flights is reduced, planes are routinely oversold. GLD has been highly devalued, loss of MCE access in 2014 is a concern. I find it hard to believe that the merged AA will reduce MM benefits; it is a rather exclusive club, all indications are that the new management (unlike the new UA) will continue incentives for elites to encourage loyalty, so I expect to enjoy the LT PLT for many years to come. For this reason, I am taking advantage of mileage run opportunities - particularly those with bonus miles. At the current rate, I should reach 2 MM by age 55, |

At the current rate, I should reach 2 MM by age 55, I'm past 3MM. mrs brp is within 1 EXP year of 2MM. Since all of our travel is leisure, it won't be reducing as we approach retirement. I expect it to stay much the same for quite a while. Cheers. |

Be aware that bonus miles won't count toward MM status.

Speculation about the "New American Airlines" and the new FFP have been moved to Speculation and discussion of what the new merged FFP might look like (consolidated). Please follow the discussion there, as here it is dilatory to the topic of the AAdvantage Million Miler Program.

Do non-US AAdvantage members first get 4 VIPs upon first million miles?

AFAIK, the Million Miler awards are pretty much as described in the wikipost and here.

I have just about 960,000 AA lifetime miles (that were counted prior to the change in Dec 2011) and around 250,000 US Airways BIS/lifetime miles. Has anything been confirmed or not whether the two lifetime balances will combine and give me million miler status?
