Not surprising. It would be an awful coincidence that a bunch of brand new 787s and 77Ws suddenly started to simultaneously break.

Not sure if it's been mentioned up-thread, but this is a good resource to monitor potential union-related delays and cancellations.

https://flightaware.com/live/cancelled

Personally, I'm going to be surprised if the conduct continues (at least at the level we saw earlier this week). Courts have been very harsh on these illegal slowdowns, fining unions and their leaders. Tuesday's data just reeks of illegal conduct. We'll see what happens.

I've heard that there were "strange" cancellations at ORD last night on the int'l flights. I'm not seeing anything (yet) today. I also have not heard anything more about the lawsuit. It usually takes just a few days for the airline to get a preliminary injunction and. by their actions, the union is setting themselves up to be severely spanked by the court. I'm actually surprised that any slowdown has continued, if it fact that is the case. They're risking millions of dollars of liability, including personal liability to the union leaders. That tends to encourage the participants to behave themselves.

How does this uphold in the court? Can't the mechanics find almost anything to not sign off on at any given time?

There is a MEL or Minimum Equipment List. Yes, you can find stuff, but if the courts find that all of sudden, small stuff, non-MEL stuff is popping up and causing delays en masse, then they can rule against the union. The second thing is, if all of a sudden there are issues
a. Everything coincidentally broke
b. Why were the mechanics not doing their job before?

AA 42 ORD to VCE was cancelled last night. AA rolling delayed from 7:40pm to 3:30am before finally canceling. They changed the gate 9 times and there was no order with how it was handled by ORD agents.

Issue was stated as no crew

RDU-LHR

Went MX about 1.5 hours before departure, with a one hour estimate. 45 minutes into that, another 3 hour delay tacked on. Will it go? We shall see...
