AA 2018 year in review

Interest facts in AA's year in review that just got sent out.

54 times flown to the Sun by Platinum Pro members =~ 200,000 60-70000 Platinum Pro Members (from my email)
203 times flown to the Sun by Gold Members =~ 755,000 (ceiling) Gold Members (from my wife's email)
added: 103 times flown to the Sun by EXP Members = ~ 95000 (assuming 100,000 per EXP which is low excepting buy-ups)

Never had any idea of how many people are in each tier.

141 Hours in the air for me. Would have been interesting to have these stats before I retired and was EXP for years.

103 times for EXP.

Don't think the most frequently visited destination(s) is correct though, at least for me.

Got this too. 221 hours in the sky, here

Not keen on the FB/Twitter share feature at the footer, though. It shares a link which renders identically to the email, including AAdvantage tier and member number. Not really cool for AA to share publicly.

186,000 500-mile upgrade stickers to fly to the Sun. Each way.

Not sure you need to worry about the return trip.

My email doesn't include the aggregate statistics per tier (Explat) that you guys are quoting, only personal. Oddly, it says that I am in the top 25% amongst Executive Platinum per miles flown. I am at about 103K EQM and 80K BIS.

If this statement is accurate it implies most Executive Platinum get there due to J/F/W flying, which may make sense. What do you guys think?

My email has me in the top 19% for miles flown. It also has me earning 201,000 award miles from "not flying" which is not really accurate (60,000 from Barclay + 100,000 from 5x AA European Vacation bonus--not attainable unless I flew) I don't charge very much on AA CCs.
The most annoying "statistic": longest trip flown was ZRH-PHL, which I wouldn't have flown had AA not removed the n/s between JFK and ZRH...but for 2019 I'll be flying these on DL (bye bye AA).

For those ExPlats who don't mind sharing...

Would be interesting to see Top X% and rough BIS numbers to get an idea of the ExPlat flight miles distribution.

I think it has a lot to do with it, i have 102K EQM and not in the top anything% as my email didn't have that. I don't know my BIS but most of my flights were J/F, also had a couple BA J and F flights which not sure if their top % of miles flown only includes AA metal which could also affect it.

ETA: I realized if I went to my activity on aa.com and did a search for the whole year and expanded every flight you can add up the "million miler" values to get BIS, so I had 67K BIS on 102K EQM, and as mentioned my email didn't indicate I made it into any % percentile of miles flown.

Mine says I'm in the top 16% of Platinums based on miles flown. I've got 50048 miles with one more flight booked...does that seem possible? I suppose it includes everyone who didn't requalify but even still, is it that rare to qualify based on mileage rather than segments?

I forget that not everybody tracks this stuff. You could estimate by the difference in your Million Miler total from now compared to the beginning of the year/end of 2017.
