● Admirals Club has reciprocity agreements for access under specified conditions to Alaska Airlines Board Room, Qantas Club, and some individual lounges (e.g. DUB, DUS, FRA, MXP, ZRH etc. Please use the Lounge Dashboard "sticky" thread to easily find the threads discussing these other airline lounge access requirements and to the master threads pertaining to specific lounges. (These do not apply to One Dap Pass holders.)

● Note: Members are able to contact Admirals Club Member Services (see below) 24 hours in advance even when not flying and request gate passes for themselves and others meeting at an Admirals Club for business purposes:

VISITING THE Admirals Club WHEN NOT FLYING

Members not flying can access Clubs when they have airside access and the airport doesn’t restrict lounge access to departing passengers.

Members can not secure a gate pass from a ticket agent.

Members can not secure a gate pass with merely "declared business purpose" for themselves and others any longer (14 Sep 2016).

Members and non-members can schedule and attend business meetings in the Admirals Club® or Executive Center if they have rented a conference room in a Club with such and are registered on the daily meeting list. See below.

This requires arrangements at least 24 (workday) hours in advance.

FAQ link including a Club access.

Q. I am a member and would like to meet someone at the airport, but I'm not flying today on AA, AS or oneworld airline. Can I get through Security to get to the Admirals Club lounge?

A: No. Only those registered in advance and attending a conference in a rented conference room may have access. Casual access / walking up to the ticket counter to request a gate pass is not permitted; please do not put employees in an uncomfortable position by asking.

To do so you must :
  • Present a valid government I.D.
  • Have your name on the daily meeting list

To add names of those attending an event in a rented conference room to the daily meeting list, call at least 24 hours in advance:
  • Admirals Club number/AAdvantage® number
  • Legal name as it appears on government issued identification for each individual
  • Birth dates, including year, for each individual (maximum of two guests allowed for non-conference room meeting)*
  • Location, date and time of non-conference room meeting

We will arrange for Security clearance with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to allow you to get to the lounge. This opportunity is available for Admirals Club members only (and their authorized guests), and you will be required to show your Admirals Club membership card, along with a government-issued photo ID.

*(Times corrected to current service center hours)

Q. CAN I PURCHASE A FULLY REFUNDABLE AA TICKET FOR ACCESS?

No. It's honestly not a good idea, as this practice is specifically prohibited by American Airlines' Conditions of Carriage (Link):

American specifically prohibits practices commonly known as:

...Fraudulent, fictitious and abusive bookings: Fraudulent, fictitious and/or abusive bookings are prohibited. These types of bookings are defined as ... or to gain access to airport facilities....

Executive Card - additional information: As one Club employee posted on millionmilesecrets:

"* Here are the rules…I work at the Club

1. Only the primary card holder is a member. Note the word member... The member (or now, authorized user, flying AA, AS or oneworld the same day) is allowed to bring in 2 guests OR immediate family which cannot exceed 2 people over 18 and all children under 18. For example John cannot bring in his wife, his 2 daughters and their husbands. He can bring in 2. If his daughters are under 18 they do not count toward the guest count of 2...

2. Our computers tell us if one is an authorized user. (Your AAdvantage number and if you are a cardholder in good standing - jd.)".

I'm a bit upset my airport was on the april list and now it isn't. If I booked it last week it would have been 8750 one way. What are the change rules as far as changing the dates without changing O+D? If I booked it in march when it was a RMA for april and I move it in april back one day when it is no longer on the RMA city list will I have to pay an increase in miles? Also, if flights are operated by alaska do they qualify for the RMA price?

BUR is an interesting one ^, I found several dates with seats.

That's interesting. I would assume you have to pay an increase of miles and/or money since it's no longer the same award type. It's also an interesting question if Alaska qualifies for a RMA. I don't see why it would not be since it is milesaaver award level.
Just searched RDU-BUR again and found nothing around the dates I wanted. Oh well.

I've got a good chunk of domestic travel coming up on AA (and little/no lounge access), and I'm eyeing the 30-day Club Membership. Does anyone know if it's a one-time deal, or can I purchase 30 days again if I'm in a similar situation in the future?

You can purchase it once or 12 times a year if you'd like, there's no limit. It will also credit toward a full membership if you decide to purchase an annual at the end of the 30 days.

Back when I used to do most of my traveling during two months of the year, I would buy it once in February and once again in May. It's a great deal if your frequent travel is confined to a few months out of the year.

You can buy it whenever you wish. Of course, if you find yourself needing it often, the annual membership may be more attractive.

Or better yet, sign up for the Citi Exec AA card, get the AC membership, bonus miles, extra perks like free Global Entry and pay the same $450.

Authorized User Access to Admirals Club

So the wife is flying solo tomorrow. I am the primary cardholder and she is authorized user. Any reports on denied access for an AU trying to get into a Club? First time she's going to try it without me present, and she's nervously excited! (She'll be at LAX).

Haven't heard of any recent issues for authorized users accessing the club, however, you may want to provide her with a link to the Citi AAdvantage Travel Benefits webpage describing this benefit:
Admirals Club

How It Works

As a Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive cardmember you receive membership to Admirals Club locations worldwide. At the information/front desk of the Admirals Club you will be asked to swipe your Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive card to confirm your access. Your membership includes access (for you and your immediate family or up to two traveling guests that accompany you) to Admirals Club® worldwide locations. You’ll agree that travel has never been this comfortable and convenient. Plus, authorized users of your Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite™ MasterCard® account have access to Admirals Club® lounges even when you are not traveling with them.* Enjoy spacious and relaxing lounges offering amenities such as private bars offering complimentary drinks and light snacks, complimentary Wi-Fi, PCs with internet access, print services and more. See our FAQs for details and terms.

<snip>

[from the fine print]
Access to Admirals Club® lounges is available to an Authorized User of Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite™ MasterCard® who is eighteen (18) years of age or older. Either immediate family members (spouse or domestic partner and children under eighteen (18) years of age) or up to two (2) guests traveling with the Authorized User may be admitted for free when accompanied by the Authorized User.

I have not heard any reports - either way.

Please report back here her success or failure. Good luck!

I don't get it. If she's an authorized user and has a card with her name on it, why would there be an issue?

This is a relatively new change. I think OP is wondering if lounge staff have been thoroughly trained.

Correct, that's why I asked.. My card says Admirals Club on back. Wife's does not. Allowing AUs is brand new, and I was indeed wondering if AA and Citi communicated well/ They did. My wife got through !

Shouldn't be a problem. If there is, request a supervisor.
