Are "Compliments" responded to?

Just submitted a mixed compliment/complaint (broken IFE that couldn't be fixed, but excellent efforts from the flight attendants) under the "Compliments" section.

Does anyone know if Compliments are read and (if necessary/requested) responded to in the same way that Complaints are?

I thought compliment best matched the spirit of my note, but at the same time I was very clear in the note about asking for compensation.

I'd separate the two issues, and request compensation in one communication, then use Twitter to tweet my compliment. In my opinion your commo is most likely to be handled as the former and the compliment is likely to not be handled other than a possible mention and thanks in the AA reply.

Absolutely they are responded to. I've sent in compliments many, many times. I'd like to think they probably keep a record of all my complaining so the compliment would offset those so they see I'm not just a crybaby. Not sure if they do that though. I've had some amazing service at AZO and they were pretty quick with a nice thank you letter that didn't seem like a form letter.

Over the (over 60 flying AA) years, I have as well - but the issue as I see it is including a compliment as part of a complaint requesting compensation is more likely to get an agent in a hurry to dispose of such a communication who will process a compensation request and move on.

I've complimented and complained in the same letter to AA a few times. Nothing was amis in my compensation. I figure they'd like to know that the desk did everything in their power to make it right but didn't have the ability.

I've sent compliments over the years mainly relating to ACs and have received a personal response from the person I've complimented in the past.

I have as well...the next time I walked through the door. She said "I got a copy of the letter you sent to AA...thanks!"

This was in the days of the brilliant SJC AC.

Cheers.
