My upgrade on AA 72 SYD-LAX 23 Dec 2015 cleared prior to the 100 hour window.

Our (2) upgrades for AA 164 SFO-JFK on 6 Jan and return AA 17 on 16 Jan cleared well before T-100.

AA 80 DFW-LHR 13 Apr, and AA 109 LHR-LAX 18 Jul have already cleared.

All J cabin to F cabin, all but AA 80 with SWU; AA 80 with BXP3.
... And of course, the 100-hour EXP window for complimentary domestic electronic upgrades - or 72-hour for sticker for PLT or 24-hour for Gold (that would appear to be the topic of this thread) still have nothing to do with SWU or Mileage plus Co-Pay upgrades on International flights (for any member) - right??

It's a flight out of CLT, so that would explain connecting traffic, even though it's a 9am departure. However, my understanding is the system now only releases complimentary (non-SWU/mileage copay) upgrades once each leg's window opens, not at the window of the first flight on an itinerary with connections. Given the various experiences here, it seems it is one thing in theory and another in practice then.

It's really not the end of the world, just trying to figure out if there is anything consistent about the process to rely on. Then again it is AA and you still can't count on a consistent PDB (on LAA flights anyway)...

Such a change would certainly not shock me, but so far it seems the window for all segments opens with the first. Of course, there seems to be a lot more times where nothing is released at T-100, so it will be harder and harder to tell. I have not been able to find any definitive info on AA.COM about this point - but there never was for the traditional method either.

Once I was upgraded at something like T-106 on a single-segment transcon. I didn't complain.

Last Fall, one time I was upgraded close to 120 hours before departure on AA metal (complimentary upgrade), which took me by surprise, but no complaints.
