I asked the GA if there was any chance I'd get the upgrade (no list was showing on the monitor). She checked and said "no", then "wait a couple minutes; one person hasn't checked in yet". A few minutes later, she'd handled the few people in her line; checked again, smiled, and issued me the new BP just as priority boarding started.

And then she had to come on board to take my card back to the desk for the co-pay.

This was a 16J 737; I got seat 4J (no surprise).

Agreed. Best I can tell from that post is that - since there was a "co-pay" involved - this appears to be a miles and money upgrade on a domestic segment of an itinerary involving an EZE-MIA flight.

As such it has absolutely nothing to do with complimentary upgrade windows.

SEA - JFK Cleared T-12

Ex Plat cleared at T-12 with 10 open seats in J from T-100 to T-12

Just boarded DFW- DCA. 7 people cleared at the gate.

I was #2 at the gate as an EXP.

Yikes. I just perused a flight from DCA-CLT that I'll be taking mid next week and looked at the flight loads for today's flight. 44 people on the upgrade list.

Sheesh!

Sorry, the card called it a 777-300ER, and I was apparently lysdexic when I typed that. IOW, a 77W, on the EZE-MIA segment. According to FlightRadar, N733AR. 2 front cabins of two rows each, both 1-2-1 all-forward.

Sheesh!

Less than 500 miles means everyone with status on the plane (on a revenue ticket) has upgrades autorequested. :D

The Tuesday and Wednesday upgrade lists should be a lot shorter than a Friday list. Thursday is likely comparable to Friday, though, especially with Fed. Govt offices closed next Friday.

OK, so it was a 77W on an international long-haul flight. It has nothing to do with upgrade windows. There are no such windows on miles and co-pay upgrades or on international long-hauls. Upgrade windows only pertain to elites on e500 or EXP complimentary upgrades.

This thread...smh.

I hear ya. I must have Stockholm syndrome because 1. I keep checking it and 2. Have even posted in it! At least I'm sure that 1. International flights don't have upgrade windows and 2. The 100 (or 72 or 48 or 24) hour windows still exist.

Either way, it's a fun thread to check. :P

Zanotti Jan 13, 2017 5:35 pm

Small sample size. 4 flights YTD, all four UG at T-4 hours or less, one game time at the gate. (Ex Pt.)

LINDEGR Jan 13, 2017 5:41 pm

JFK-CDG showed J7 (and I5) the night before and seat map was about 50% occupied. Nevertheless, did not clear until the morning of the flight..... Very disappointing!

Yeah, nothing more disappointing than getting an international upgrade.

Noted. You might "SMH" at AA for not making that clear on their "Elite Status" page.

Why should AA "make clear" something that only exists in people's imaginations?
