MODERATOR NOTE:

These new changes have been explained in more detail in an updated Announcement thread here:
UPDATED - Please READ BEFORE POSTING: New American / AA / US FORUM STRUCTURE

Regarding some of the questions that came up in this thread, here's the deal:

1) The existing 3 forums have simply undergone slight restructuring to update the forum titles for clarity, and to place them all under one umbrella forum that cannot be posted to. All existing content remains where it was within those 3 forums.

2) This was done to encourage posters to actively select the appropriate forum for their posts, rather than defaulting to the Combined AA/US forum, which required numerous thread moves and redirects. We recognise that these redirects were distracting, and doing the housekeeping is also time consuming for us.

3) Apologies for the lack of advance notice or rapid explanation. The AA/US Moderators have been discussing this change with the IB tech crew for several weeks, but were unaware that it was to be implemented today. Once it was done we worked as quickly as we could to correct the few small glitches that happened immediately after the change, as well as get word out on what and why this was done.

If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact the AA/US moderator team by Private Message.

Thanks!
The New American Moderator Team

Seems odd they make the change now with the purported end of USDM closer than ever...

Moderator Note

I apologize, ladies and gentlemen, on behalf of the combined moderator team of the AA and US forums. Today's forum shuffle caught us off-guard, which is why you've not seen an announcement as to what's been done and why.

Please allow us a couple days to get that put together and to get some technical bugs resolved (like the not-so-hidden-hidden-forum) and we'll come back to you with an explanation.

In the meantime, the three sub-forums are still the same three forums they were yesterday-- just slightly retitled to hopefully help non-regulars have a better grasp of what gets posted where.

Please stay (patiently) tuned...

To follow up on the post above from my colleague, I've updated the Wikipost in this thread with more detail on what happened and why.

I've also updated the Announcement thread that everyone should be seeing now in all of the AA fora, and will link it here as well:

UPDATED - Please READ BEFORE POSTING: New American / AA / US FORUM STRUCTURE

Please review that thread if you've questions, and don't hesitate to contact us if those questions remain unanswered. Thank you!
