I have a 5 and I have not been able to update the AA app since 9/19 (the day I posted in the AA app thread), as I have not updated to iOS 8.
Look up the app on itunes and you will see that the latest version was posted on 9/17 and requires 8.0 or higher. When I checked yesterday, it said I had to update the app, meaning I had to do the update to use the AA app. |

I was able to use the old app. I wasn't referring the updated version of the app.

IPhone OS 7.1.2. AA app tells me that it no longer works with "This version of the app is no longer supported. Please upgrade to the newest version. " However going to the App Store shows nothing to upgrade.
Not the greatest situation. |

Just clicked on my AA app and it pops up a message saying "This version of the app is no longer supported. Please upgrade to the newest version.". Went to the app store and see that the app was last updated on Sep 17 and now requires ios 8!
I'm running ios 7.1.1 and I'm not going to update my iphone 4s to ios 8. (We can argue that point but every technical resource I consult tells me to expect very sluggish performance if I do.) Why can every other app I use, including Delta's, add ios 8 compatibility and optimization but not make it unusable in ios 7? It's not like iphone 4s does not have a huge installed base. The app itself still runs fine, of course, but when it tries to communicate with AA's back end it chokes and delivers the "Please upgrade" message. There is no reason AA cannot continue to support the older OS. |

No problem here. Running iOS 7.1.2 and AA app 3.7.0.3.7.0. No message prompting to upgrade. Checked in for flight fine this morning.

Question: Is there a way to add, not just search for, a Reservation to the app? I have several bookings where I have applied my US DM number for which I can search and view, but they do not stick under "My Flights"
If not a feature, I guess this would be a request -- I have found this a helpful feature on the UA app. |
iOS app bug or different source?
When I booked my flight, AA.com stated both the outbound and return had WiFi.
Last week, the iOS app did not show the WiFi icon for either my outbound or return flight. Today, the WiFi icon only shows for the outbound flight. My itinerary on AA.com still shows both flights have WiFi. Gate & Times only had the outbound flight. Does the iOS app get its data from a different source than My Flights and Gate & Times pages? Is this just a bug with the app? |
I keep having issues where the upgrade list randomly won't show up on the app -- anyone figure out a way to get this to work?
Have tried closing app and refreshing. Even tried app on my ipad and still not showing up. (also, I don't think you can see the list at www.aa.com either right?) |
I just don't get the AA app. I have a flight tomorrow with a connection. At T-24 I can check in online (web) and print both boarding passes. But using the app, I can only get the first boarding pass. When I try to get the connection BP, it tells me that I have to wait until T-24 for that flight.
Am I missing something here? As a side note I recently came over to AA from United. So far so good, but United is way ahead of AA in the app department. The United app can handle just about anything. The AA app, not so much. |
I wonder if there are various versions of the app out there. Mine shows the upgrade list beginning at about 4 hours before the flight, and also shows the status of the inbound equipment. I have version 3.9.1.3.9.1 for iOS. It's running on an iphone 4s running iOS 8.1.2.

AA/USair flights showing differently on iphone, AA.com & USairways.com
I made an award reservation a month or so ago - mixed flights from Corpus Christi to Providence in October. Logged into the AA apps on my iphone and it said reservation was changed - 2nd outgoing flight different and arrived
AFTER 3rd flight departed. Logged onto computer AA.com - says Your reservation details cannot be retrieved at this time. This may be caused by changes made to the reservation outside of AA.com Logged onto USairways.com and the reservation is there including AA flights and it looks like nothing has changed from original reservation. Anyone else showing conflicting info on a trip combining AA and USair flights? Will call AA but have given it a few days and it's still all screwed up. |
My first rodeo on AA in a while and trying to use the iOS app to check in. When I tap the check-in button next to my itin, it tells me I have to go to aa.com to do web check-in. Then it loads the website within the app and at the end it gives me an option to print (?) or email boarding pass PDF. Nowhere do I see an option to view the BP within the app or send it to Passbook.
Am I doing something wrong? I'm coming over from DL and, while they finally successfully drove me away, there are may things to like about them, their mobile app being one of them. |
You should have been able to close out of the app, go back in, open your reservation and see the "Boarding Pass" link in place of "Check In"....
