I'm about to start at one of the schools that participated in the AA Gold MBA program. It will be great for me because with two years of class, I will drop from Hero to Zero. My allegiance has been with CO/NW for a while, but if they have the same promotion when I graduate I will probably try AA for a year or two.

AA could bribe some educ. inst. to award an MBA to someone who maintains AA elite status for a given time ... sort of reversing the trend?

One needn't go from hero to zero while in school. One of my classmates was top tier on several airlines (flew from Asia to NYC every week) and wrote a letter to each of them, maintaining his status until graduation.

Fast forward two years...I graduate with my MBA from Thunderbird this month. Any word on whether this promotion will be brought back? My only elite status is with Yelp.

I guess it can never hurt to call / write AA and tell them you have earned your MBA from Thunderbird; it's probably much like telling the TA / GA you're on your honeymoon and hoping for an Op Up, but hope springs eternal. N.B. Please do not take any laughter you might hear personally.
