Five-star service got a brief mention in the NYT this week. It seems like they are just parroting AA's PR, but they say the service has been very popular.
American Airlines said it had expanded an exclusive meet-and-greet personalized service, first conceived for celebrities, because of increased demand from business travelers over the last two years.
For $125, American helps speed its customers’ journey through the airport, from the curbside, through security and onto the plane. This service, called Five Star, was initially planned for three airports but has been expanded to 14 locations thanks in part to its popularity with business passengers, said Nancy Knipp, president of American’s Admirals Club.

No immigration & customs lane with five stars at Miami ?
Hello
I'll be flying from CDG to Denver via Miami on September.
I'd like to avoid the long immigration & customs lane at Miami airport
This is basically my only interest in the Five stars service
I was not able to find a precise reply : Will I yes or not avoid the customs & immigration lane at Miami ?
In other words will I be at the front of the lane with virtually no wait ?
Thank you so much all for your help
warmly

New: Promo for 500,000 AA miles, plus free five-star service and other benes
Here’s an easy promotion to sign up for. American has launched a new contest for 500,000 miles, a credit for a 5-star hotel, private ground transportation to your hotel plus Five Star Service at your destination to the winner. The Five Star is nice, but the real value is the 500,000 miles, which is enough for two first class tickets anywhere American serves (plus a little extra, in most cases!).
It doesn’t mention the 500,000 miles on the main contest page, rather it just says ‘two free first class tickets.’ However, when you drill into the promotion terms, it states clearly that they’ll give you 500,000 miles and basically leave it to you to figure out.
Enter by September 30, 2011. No fees to participate. The terms say you will get a 1099-misc for the value of the promotion, if you win.

I went ahead and made my "reservation" for Five Star on my return connection through LHR. I'll be coming in T5 on BA (AA codeshare). Will find out if they really will transfer me to T3. I did get multiple confirmation of this through multiple people and even Amex Concierge so should be good!

How effective is Five Star Service for interline connections from international arrivals to domestic departures? If I am, say, connecting from a BA arrival to an AA departure at JFK, will the connecting escort meet me and escort me through CBP and also escort me through security? If not, can I purchase both an arrival and departure escort separately? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Just a FYI: I just got off the phone with them. The lady said they just got new information today regarding LHR and if you fly into T5 with BA on an AA codeshare, they WILL be there to meet you in T5, and they will transport you to T3. They can do this as long as it's an AA codeshare.
(My next trek through LHR actually involves BA T5 to BA T3.)

Was reading in another thread here about an Hollywood Reporter piece discussing AA at LAX and the special security area for VIPs. Can you get Five Star to take you through there? Only value to me is getting to be guaranteed a NOS-free trip through security. I'll definitely be using this at JFK since they take you through the employee lane, which AFAIK has no NOS (but please correct me if I'm mistaken).

Is the charge for Five Star Service qualify as an eligible fee for AMEX's $200 fee credit for Platinum Card members?

Apologies if already covered, but its a long thread and a search did not throw anything up.
Does this get one taken to the front of an immigraiton line at any of JFK EWR or MIA (especially MIA) if one has a non US passport. If so, it could be worth its weight in gold !
One other quesiton: Is this olny applicable for AA arrivals, or would it also be available for OneWorld (BA) arrivals ?

Looking at a charge for 5* earlier this year, it appears on my statement with a ticket number, so Amex might think of it as a flight, not a misc fee.
Against that, I suspect if you called Amex, they'd probably apply the credit for the service if you asked nicely. I'm sure their coding of misc charges hasn't been perfect.
I've got flights in December that I'll use 5* for...so, unless HSBC offers the service free again, I'll know for sure then. I feel pretty good that I'd be able to get Amex to apply the credit.
And, for my family of four, it's conveniently $200...

I used 5 stars in Miami few weeks ago and we were able to use the diplomatic line which was very short. (only 2 people in front of us / 5 mns waiting time)
We also cut the customs line, security line and the boarding line for my next flight. Pretty fun to cruise the airport with their small golf cart (we use the golf cart from the plane to immigration, then from the lounge to the gate)
She bring me to the 1st class lounge while waiting for my next flight (it should only be the Admiral Clubs but she was extra nice and even refused my tip).
She told me that the service is not available for One world partner, only AA metal
FYI : I don't have a US passport.
Use the service, it's definitely worth the USD 125

Just tried booking for Sunday departure from JFK. Fully booked for both Sundays I have flights scheduled and was placed on a waitlist. I guess HSBC folks are taking full advantage of it.
Is there any point booking it for arrival into JFK (my final destination) especially if I only have a carry-on and have GlobalEntry?
