Well, that's just silly. Then we have to include HKG-LHR service on QF, BA, CX, et al., as "coast-to-coast" too.

Coast-to-coast in the US is arguably the reasonable implied restriction.

Do you have to connect from Australia, or would it be possible to connect from some other international destination, as well (mexico, canada)?

You have to connect on QF from Australia - and I guess New Zealand would be OK as well.

I can tell you that you will not get on the flight unless you do the above - in fact, I had a valid RTW ticket and had arrived the day before on CX from HKG and when I tried to check-in for the QF LAX-JFK flight I was told that BA (which had issued the ticket) had made a mistake, and I was re-booked on AA.

I even had a BP for the QF flight issued by CX the day before in HKG!!!

You really need to fly up front on the 763/762...

If UA's 763 BOS-LAX IS indeed 3-class (which it appears to be) then you are correct and AA is wrong. AA should change the claim to "The MOST 3-class widebody service coast-to-coast!". Or ""The only 3-class widebody service LAX-JFK!".

Hardly. Why would the restricition of a strictly US routing be reasonable?

And your point of including HKG-LHR is valid. That is considered coast to coast.

I did not personally listen to the radio advert, but AA should make clear which routes they are referring to. Simply referring a geographical region as "coast" is far too ambiguous.

But YVR is domestic according to AA's international/domestic rules... just because they didn't vote for Bush doesn't mean that they're not American. Oh wait, ignore that last sentence, it doesn't help to clarify what is and what isn't US.

Coast-to-Coast is marketing speak - not a geography lesson - lighten up
