Is it possible that this is related to why AA's JFK schedule got significantly worse on the same day? e.g. the one daily JFK-SEA flight changed from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Gate shortage?

US only has 2 departures during the late afternoon evening rush. I can't see how this would impact the AA schedules.

Here is the US Schedule from JFK
---------------
06:14 - CLT
06:45 - PHX
08:24 - CLT
10:14 - CLT
10:29 - PHX
12:00 - CLT
16:29 - PHX
18:27 - CLT
---------------

is that true to say even Cathay Pacific provide higher capacity than US in JFK?

8 flights on A319/320 equipment is about 1000 departure seats per day.

Some of those flights are 321s. So I would say it's at least 1200 seats. 8 flights with 319s is a few seats short of 1000.

Out of curiosity, do regular passengers pay attention to stuff like this?

AC, NH and FL all fly out of T7 so it's doubtful that it was BA that pushed them out; most of US ops seem to be at low volume times - so a good guess is that it was probably done to shorten the connection time for CLT and PHX flights to feed AA JFK international flights. I would guess a T8-T8 connection would be shorter than T7-8 and vice versa.

Let the merger die.

(partner benefits are okay, though)
