If you're flying out of IAD to/from DFW, I'm pretty sure all of those services are operated by 737-800s

Cheers.
I like the 738's for sure up front, but that said, as a SAT based flyer who gets the mad-dog to DFW every time, I will surely miss the AB side in MCE Y as I detest going three wide, even in MCE and won't burn a sticker for 42 minutes, Although hitting EXP in 6 more segments will help me to get up front more, I have grown fond.

1. Aside from the 757, F in an MD-80 is infinitely better than F in a 738.

2. With the 2-3 config, Y in an MD-80 is infinitely better than Y in pretty much any other type of a/c AA operates.

IIRC the plan is to concentrate them into ever fewer hubs, to reduce costs (maintenance, spares, etc.). IIRC LAX is already 100% M80-free; am not sure about if any of the other 4 hubs have reached that "milestone".

MIA has been MD80 free since about 2013. I thought LAX still saw some from SFO & DFW.

I'll miss the MD when it goes.

They've been replacing MD-80s with Boeing 737-800s, and Airbus A320 family aircraft are coming soon. But there are so many in the fleet they will be around a while.

If you were an elite on AA, you'd be able to select Main Cabin Extra seats - 34-36 inch seat pitch in the front of the Main Cabin (Coach), as well as Premium or Exit row seats, and of course one side (port) only has two seats (as opposed to three) across, and some like that as well.

DFW still has many on midcon assignment - at SMF, we actually get all ex-TW MD-83s, but they are all just DC-9s on steroids anyway and going away slowly but surely.

Pepsi or Coke - I won't touch that with a ten foot pole unless I am dying of thirst and really hard up for a sugar boost. Nah, probably not even then.

Older but comfortable seats. More legroom in EF than AB. Generally older metal.

I hate sitting behind the back door too. But I still say the front 3/4's rides better than a 737.

Flying LAX to STL and then STL to LGA tomorrow, both flights are on MD 80s.

Of course flew out of DFW to LAX earlier in the week on a 757. I could swear I heard it say "oy!" during take-off.
