The rebate program (which began in April 2012) applies only to primary card holders of these cards:
  • Citi Platinum Select AAdvantage Visa Signature
  • Citi Platinum Select AAdvantage World MasterCard
  • Citi Platinum Select AAdvantage World Elite MasterCard
  • Citi Select AAdvantage American Express
It does not apply to the Citi Gold World MasterCard, Citi Executive products, or some of the Citi Business cards.

The maximum rebate for any cardholder in a single calendar year is 10,000 miles per AAdvantage account. Having more than one qualifying Citi AA card will not allow you to receive a larger rebate.

How to get 10% miles redemption rebate on Citi AA card?

I tried to find the answer to this question but couldn't. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post.

Do I need to use my Citi AA card to pay for taxes of the award tickets in order to receive the 10% miles back? I just used my Amex PRG card pay for the taxes of a 135k redemption on the phone with AA, and then realized I have this benefit. Will I receive my 10k miles back?

Give it a week or so. It will automatically show up. You do nothing.

Rebate should post shortly after booking and does not need to wait until after travel.

Fair warning, it could be more than a week. (For some of us this year, it has been.)

I obtained 2 OW award tickets last November for travel in February/March 2013 and used my AA Citi Card to pay the various fees. I received my 10% miles rebate (4k) within 2-3 weeks of booking the flights.

Would I have to book the award tickets for me to get the 10% back, or can I book them for someone else and still receive the 10%?

Emailed Aadvantage and got confirmation that the cap applies per calendar year, so it did reset Jan 1. Also got the expected response that it takes 6-8 weeks to post and it has not yet been 8 weeks since my Jan 6 redemption, so keep waiting.

It does not matter who you book award for. As long as you are card holder and there is redemption from the associated AA account, 10% rebate will be applied.

Cheers!
