The lunch on JFK-LAX/SFO flights are disappointing as well.
On UA's p.s. flights, you get 3 choice instead of 2 on AA.
In addition, there is no appetizer on AA's transcon lunch...

IMO, DL is the clear winner in transcon catering and this is only J.
Plus, unlike the swill that both AA/UA serve, wines that one would actually buy and drink at home.
From earlier this year...

While DL is a clear winner over AA on JFK-LAX/SFO flights, AA is the clear winner on all other transcons. Did DL F JFK-PDX a few weeks ago and other than great service frmo the FAs (and the non-stop of course), food, wine, and F seats left MUCH to be desired.

Correct. Should have been more specific. Other than JFK-LAX/SFO, DL catering in Upgrade Class is horrid.

Not to mention UA requires an instrument in order to sit in J, even for elites, while AA/DL give complimentary upgrades for elites on LAX/SFO-JFK.

Exactly - taken as a whole, AA's domestic catering still beats the competition somewhat substantially.

And on top of that, DL upgrades on the LAX/SFO-JFK are hard to comeby and, IIRC, largely only clear at the gate.

Though agreed that AA's lunch catering on trans-cons needs to be stepped up pronto.

Exclamation Reminder

Hi folks - this thread is starting to wander. Please help us stay focused; we're discussing AA's domestic meals in this thread. (General discussion about other US airlines' catering and upgrade policies can be done elsewhere.)

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation! /Moderator

Haven't been on a mainline AA flight in 3 months. It's been shorthaul CR7s, ERJs, and lately, now almost all CRJs.

All my AA meals have been the pasteurized Swiss-type flavored process cheese food tray.

Now I see where the "fake cheese" went when DL dumped it from its clubs after a campaign against it on FT.

ORD-MIA 1078 737 Boeing sky

"Torta" with spinach and red pepper and potatoes and chorizo on the side. Fruit and choice of biscuit or poppy seed muffin. Actually it's more like a tortilla/spanish omlette and was really good, fluffy and not too salty.

Interesting, from the photo it looks like a traditional torta, which translate as "Cake" however, the potatoes wouldn't have been my first choice... But nice breakfast

What's being served on DFW/OGG these days? Looked all over the AA site and couldn't find anything.
