You can stay at a Hilton Hotel, select Fixed miles and link your FF account and will get 500 miles.

This. The change has little effect on you, since you are merely 1 flight away from the MM point. Any AA flight at any time will put you over.

The same cannot be said for those that are a few hundred thousand miles away or don't fly much and want MM status. They will want to points binge before the change.

I thought the ideal goal was to cross over the one million mile mark after December 31st for an extra bonus

Don't you get systemwides for passing 1MM with a Brazil address? Why in the world would you want to hit 1MM in December when you'll get an extra 12 months for systemwides that post in January? That changes the expiration from February, 2013, to February, 2014.

Surely you do intend to fly AA next year? What am I missing that you're in such a rush to hit 1MM now?

OP is crossing 1 million, not 2 million. There is nothing to be gained from delaying the crossing of the million mile mark. In fact, you lose the ability for the 35,000 mile reward to count towards LT PLT if you wait (but, if OP rarely flies, it's a moot point because he'll never get to 2 million anyway).

you have it backwards- he must hot by Dec 1 to get systemwides-- if he waits after dec 1- no more systemwides for 1mm no matter where you live

Thanks for clarifying that. I must have entirely missed that systemwides are disappearing for hitting 1MM.

Buying 1000 miles would be around USD 60. Definitely worth if for the 4 evips, if OP thinks nothing else will post in the next few days. eShopping could work, given that most retailers post using the purchase date. I'd hate to rely on that though.

Do we know for sure those will still be granted? I know the official change is 12/1 but since they never publicized the benefit previously, and have announced the new structure, will the OP receive those for sure?

I do know Eagles, the problem is that being in Brazil, they have to be international flights to the US.

After adding miles for so long, I have been using my miles lately instead of buying the tickets.

My next trip to Vegas will be on miles and I can't get another vacation until 2013

I am not sure this would be an option here in Brazil, but I will sure give it a try!

And by the way, will these bought miles count towards the 1 MM mark??

Thanks for the tip!

G3 flights will earn AA MM miles even after November 30, 2011.

Only if they are purchased before December 1, 2011.
