good luck...
So it doesn't lower anyone's PTD and you could technically just transfer miles back and fourth bring up each other PTD? Obviously not cost effective... but a thought, ha.

It was supposed to expire 4/30, but was extended to 5/31 (for transfer, not gift or buy).

Unless I misunderstood the announcement, 'buy' was also extended until 5/31, so purchased miles are 2.15 cents (20K miles, including the $30 fee)

Wonder if it's worth it to spend the 1.12cpm if you really needed those 100K miles to get to LT GLD/PLT. I'm thinking about doing a large Bankdirect CD, but perhaps it's cheaper just to do this.

The "announcement" only relates to sharing miles.

Its 2.225 cpm including the taxes.

I think COS bonus miles should as well, by that logic, as they incentivize people to buy J/F fares in order to reach the MM levels.

Dissociative identity issues are nigh!

Perhaps an a more pressing issue to come out of the anticipated changes, which AFAIK has not been brought up yet, is how are members going to list their AAdvantage program status in FT? PTD miles or Million Miler miles? Will there be a faction that tries to elevate the perception of their status by listing PTD? Will this be frowned upon by others? I think this dilemma could have serious consequences for the harmony of the American AAdvantage forum!

The "announcement" on the aa web site says:

"Purchase the miles that you may need to reach your flight award. Save 20% when you purchase 20,000 miles or or more now through May 31, 2011."

Afaik each 20k miles costs $430. There's tax on top of the $30 fee?

Yes. There is tax and a processing fee. For example, now 40,000 miles will cost you $890, $800 for the miles, $60 tax, and $30 processing fee.

They are talking about the mile cap which is normally 40k per calendar year. For sharing miles, it appears that the cap is 100k per calendar year but only if done by 31 May 2011.

After the monthly account update (and some downtime earlier this evening), all mention of million milers is gone from both aa.com and mobile.aa.com. Not that it means anything; more likely they just got tired of giving us hints and cleaned up the code of the website.
