STARLUX Seat Assignments for AS-issued tickets

Currently, the STARLUX website does not recognize AS-issued bookings for seat assignments. To get a seat assignments, use chat or call STARLUX.

Moderator Note

Because AS is JX’s only US partner, there is lot of interest here in its service, inflight product and FTers' general experiences. For the time being, STARLUX comments and reviews (especially J and PE) will be welcome in this thread.

There is not a dedicated JX forum on FT (discussion is the “Other Asian, Australian, and South Pacific Airlines” forum). Please try to keep posts at least a bit related to AS, if possible. Thanks.

Oh, HONEY… you’ll be lucky if it happens AT ALL in 2023. AS is notorious for being late with these things. Took forever to get SQ awards. It’s touching y’all thought “summer” means “very soon”.

Oh dear, I was hoping this was just an issue of awards not being bookable online. It seems now that they are not yet bookable at all?

Correct, it's not bookable at all yet. The website wording says online, but AFAIK, no one has booked via phone yet either.

Looks like the 60k J redemptions are only available on LAX – TPE and vice versa. Adding any connections – Alaska or Starlux – bumps the cost to 130k or more.

Exactly what I’m seeing too…by “design” or a website pricing error that only a phone agent can override and price correctly? I’m assuming the former, unfortunately.

Technically, they do say it will START at 20k in their press release…
”they will start at 20,000 miles for economy, 40,000 for premium economy and 60,000 for business class for a limited time”

book the 60k if the times and prices align with when you can go and deal with connections later, golden rule folks

Booked a roundtrip J award for 120K. It doesn't look like the rumored SFO flights are on the schedule yet.

Now I have to figure out the best J seat.
