Pro tip - this ticketed after I saw inventory light up on BA's site for T-330 days. That happened at noon PT.

So if you're playing this game of trying to book as far out in advance as possible, inventory drops at noon seem to be the "ticket".

On Alaska miles and having elite status, what does it take to select Premium seats on LATAM?

LATAM economy seat selection not free?

I booked a LAX-SCL (J, stopover), SCL-LIM (Y). I got seats fine on LAX-SCL but for SCL-LIM, LATAM is telling me (via Twitter) that I need to pay USD22 for seat selection. Is this really the case? Most if not all of my economy award bookings with other airlines have free seat selection so I was just surprised. I'm gonna try again (e.g. calling in) but wondering if other folks can confirm or refute this.

False alarm. LATAM had a change of heart (or just clarified): "allowed free selection of regular seats, extra legroom seats have an additional cost of 22 USD. If you wish we can select seats from row 14 to row 30 which have no additional cost."
