Airbus A319/20/21N Reconfiguration/Retirements Tracking Thread

All Airbus operations have now ended with Alaska Airlines.

This Wiki will be updated periodically with status of former frames with new owners or sadly scrapped.

Summary of Reconfiguration Project: (see below for specific breakdown by aircraft tail number)
  • 319 - None were reconfigured due to pandemic and subsequent fleet withdrawal. All were scrapped / transferred as of June 17, 2022.
  • 320 - All but 7 aircraft were reconfigured. [F8W12Y126 -> F12W24Y114], all were withdrawn from the fleet as of January 10, 2023.
  • 321neo - All were reconfigured (7 total, 3 delivered in the new interior from Airbus, completed as of January 3, 2020). [F8W18Y159 -> F16W24Y150], all were withdrawn from the fleet as of September 30 2023,.
  • All aircraft were repainted into AS livery being complete on June 2, 2019.

Ah, that comment was in response to a query about the A320. Didn't realize you were talking about the larger fleet.

N635VA has entered into service again.

N283VA appears to be entering the fleet again. It looks they are pulling any reconfig aircraft back into the fleet that they paying for the lease anyway....

Updated wiki regarding todays airbus outlook.

I still think the airbuses will be in the fleet for longer than 2023 - i dont think boeing can deliver maxes quick enough.

This thread will still track returns until the very last one!

I don't know - AS took delivery of 3 MAXs in the last 3 days- will be interesting to watch! I will miss the A321NEOs terribly, sad to see them go - quieter and more comfortable than the 900ERs. That being said, at least the AS 900ERs are roomier than UAs -talk about a cattle car experience that I will never repeat! Have not had the pleasure of being on a MAX yet.

Given that the weebly site is down, will this wiki become a tracker for all of Alaska Air Group’s fleet, or will there be a new thread started for that, while this remains solely Airbus?

I am going to get this information together - the hard part is the 737-800 archive seems to have disappeared - if someone has a new archive somewhere for these pages - i will put into a wiki.

I think we should merge it all together; the airbuses are heading out of the fleet sooner (unless another 737 grounding happens which given a 738 went down in china - isnt out of the realm of possibilty depending on outcome of the initial investigation).

They’ve been doing a better job keeping it updated. Cross referencing it with planespotters and flightradar24 seems to confirm it. Though planespotters does say it was withdrawn from use on the 31st of March.

N926VA has inoperative Wi-Fi. I’ve been burned twice this week on transcons. Not sure how quickly they usually address/resolve these issues.

On N361VA right now and let me tell you the FA's are so excited to see the 320's be done. 3 FA's/150 pax is tough, especially since only 2 serve the 138 pax in the Y cabin. I was chatting with one and she was counting the days....
