Looked into getting San Diego-St. Louis on December 15. $332 each way! I don't want to fly an inaugural flight that bad...

Thoughts about DEN?

Dang, was hoping to see PDX or SAN to DEN in these AS expansion announcements and thought the E170/175s are a great match for start up. I know some of the routes are, shall we say, overcrowded, from a carrier standpoint from DEN to west coast, but hope AS finds its customers clamoring for more DEN service in future.

Can't remember where I read that AS had an option on more gates at DEN on C concourse and was planning to increase presence - hope it comes to pass.

I think Horizon is in a trickier situation than SkyWest. They've been parking Q400s because they don't have crew. That problem seems likely to get worse as a big chunk of their pilots start flying new routes in E175s.

Really? Or is this associated more with the training of crews on the E175?

I know they've been trying to offer a 10K signing bonus...

If crews are training for the E175, they aren't going back to flying Q400s I don't imagine, so they'll have to be replaced. They're offering that bonus to try to get new people and the union is fighting them about it. Not a great situation it appears from the outside.

Still no PHX announcement.

Southwest Airlines will be big pissed at Alaska Airlines. This must be crazy!

Maybe they'll start flying to the 49th and 50th states?

Ditto on all the DEN posts above...frequently fly all over the West Coast and its damn near impossible to keep any status higher than MVP when they only fly to Seattle (and the fares elsewhere are outrageous to connect in SEA)...

I guess I can understand in the sense that there is immense competition from DEN-SFO/LAX/SAN/anywhere out West but especially PDX, still the glaring gap in the network

Amen to that. Or at DCA-SAN-PSP-DCA.
US Air did one of those outta PIT years ago.

Wish somebody, somehow, did some PSP service from DCA, IAD, or BWI.

Partner AA has a hub in PHX, little reason for AS to jump in.

I look at it the other way - with the addition of more flights --> passengers, perhaps the TSA can justify staffing PreCheck EVERY DAY - at least until 10 - 11 am.

Interesting. 28 destinations from SAN... wow! Isn't that more than LA?

Wonder what their long-term strategy is in SAN. Anyways, great news. That market must really be working out well for AS.
