Anyone apply for this card in the past month or so? I got a surprise "instant" decline and when I called into MBNA, they had no record of my application. I am curious why the decline as I have never had one before.

Did you get any automated identity verification questions? If not, there may have been a glitch (or typo) in your app where it coudn't identify you and associate your credit score - but, typically that would just divert to a manual verification process as opposed to an instant denial.

Do you think they might be switching over to TD. Application is still available on GCR and MBNA chat offered application link when I asked.

Wrong conclusion. The Alaska Card has not been visible on the MBNA main page for quite some time - the application link is only available from the Alaska Airlines webpage or some other 3rd-party sites like GCR.

Not sure what these comments on the top about an auto denial mean for this card's future, hoping they're not canceling this card, this is by far the best card in Canada for points. If someone has had success applying after Jan 1, please post.
