Requested on 11/24 from AA exp. If I book an award flight now, will I get few changes and cancellations once the match is processed? How long should I be expected it to take?

Looks like it takes about three weeks to process your request. If successful you will be able to change/cancel existing reservations. Keep in mind that changes/cancellations are free for everybody until T-60.

Not 100% sure on your first question as I have never canceled an award ticket before. Perhaps someone with direct experience can chime in.

As far as cancellations go, effective October 17th this year you will forfeit your fare if you are a no-show. You have up until scheduled departure to cancel your ticket and have the value deposited into your wallet or you could change the ticket as well. AS Gold or 75K there will be no fees so the full value will be available for change or deposited into your wallet.

Prior to October 17th you could no-show and not lose the value of your ticket. Alaska will give an exception until the end of the year if you forgot to cancel prior to flight time. However, I don't think I would ask for more than one exception.

Hello:

I was an Alaska MVP (originally a VX Silver) until Dec. 31, 2017, so no status now. Does anyone see an issue with my trying to match via my UA Lifetime Gold status? Obviously, if I send them my current 2018 UA statement it will show no activity and would that be an issue? Last year I flew about 25k with UA last year, and would probably do about the same or a little more with AS this year.
