OneWorld Ruby Baggage Allowance Waived
Booking with Alaskan Airlines LAX-MEX return on their website. Does anyone know if Oneworld Ruby FF gets baggage allowance waived. Or You'll probably have to book via AA and get the Alaskan Airlines operated flight to qualify for waived baggage?

Alaska Airlines is not part of OneWorld or any other alliance, so alliance membership is not sufficient to waive any bag fees.
If you are AA Gold or above and use your AA frequent flyer number, the first 2 bags are free on AS-operated flights.

Everyone gets the first two free on AS' flights LAX-GDL/MEX... though apparently only between Nov 15 and Jan 15

Thanks for the quick response. I managed to find a flight via AA but operated from AS. As I am a QF Silver member & know that I get waived luggage fees flying with AA.

Hopefully you are travelling Nov 15 - Jan 15 where evidently 2 bags are free for everyone as noted above.

Actually, there's a DOT guidance letter that repudiates this in international codeshare service. If the OP has an AA-coded ticket on an international journey, the AA contract of carriage applies.

passengers traveling to MEX get 2 bags free any time of year.
During the Nov 15 - Jan 15th time frame, they are allowed a MAXIMUM of 2 checked bags, period. No overweight, no oversize, and no excess.

Found out from the AA lounge that as I booked via AA website (But flight operated by AS) that I do get OneWorld Ruby privilages. So waived check in bags. Just wondering if you can use the AC lounge as well despite you flying on AS metal?

But see this thread where some have reported success in gaining access to the AS Board Room in LAX.
In addition to Qantas Club lounges, you can relax in British Airways lounges (Terraces and Executive Club lounges) and American Airlines Admirals Club lounges. For applicable lounge locations please visit www.britishairways.com and www.aa.com.
To access a partner airline lounge, simply present your Qantas Club card or Platinum or Gold Frequent Flyer card at check-in and again with your boarding pass at the lounge reception. You may also invite a guest.
