STARLUX Seat Assignments for AS-issued tickets

Currently, the STARLUX website does not recognize AS-issued bookings for seat assignments. To get a seat assignments, use chat or call STARLUX.

Moderator Note

Because AS is JXs only US partner, there is lot of interest here in its service, inflight product and FTers' general experiences. For the time being, STARLUX comments and reviews (especially J and PE) will be welcome in this thread.

There is not a dedicated JX forum on FT (discussion is in the Other Asian, Australian, and South Pacific Airlines forum). Please try to keep posts at least a bit related to AS, if possible. Thanks.

That's how it is now and no changes to distance-based earnings have been announced except no more CoS bonus on revenue tickets and no more 500 mile minimum. So that's to the best of my knowledge. Of course nothing is final until the new program actually rolls out.

Here is my understanding of how things are supposed to work. This is by no means meant to be official or authoritative, just my best interpretation of the information provided thus far. I think the biggest unknown is whether CoS bonus applies to partner bookings when choosing the earn by distance traveled stance. I have it marked as 'no' for now, but could be wrong.

Well there's no irrefutable evidence either way, but the information we do have seems to indicate that partner economy tickets earn 100% distance, except saver equivalent fares which earn 30% distance.

Update: after further review it seems likely that current partner earn rates remain in effect except for the cases specifically called out under New partner earn rate on this page.

But I could be totally wrong on this. Might be another we'll have to wait and see item.
Currently, partner Basic Economy fares earn 25%.

Additionally, for the OP, JX flights purchased anywhere outside of AS don't earn Status Points. Maybe that will change too, but yet another "later in 2026" that was first outlined more than 6 months ago.

If we assume that the table under New partner earn rate on this page supersedes the corresponding rows in the table under Earning on partner flights booked via partner site on this page and everything else stays the way it is (which I think is a reasonable assumption) then you're correct.

Thanks for this reminder, I always conveniently forget this.

Have others also observed last minute availability (in any cabin) basically dry up (or lessen significantly)? I assumed this was in part due to the current events, causing many travelers to/from Southeast Asia changing their plans to fly on carriers like JX instead.
