I have some A+ credits + business class upgrades so I'd like to use Airtran to book my flights however my desired flights (5/23-5/26 ATL-TPA) are unavailable on Airtran.com yet wide open on Southwest.com. What's the deal with that? Doe those ever reappear on Airtran or should I just covert them over to points and disregard the business class upgrades?
That is odd.
Before doing anything I would call Airtran am make sure it is not a computer glitch.
Have you checked to see if Standard Awards are available on Southwest?
BTW you cannot convert A+ credits to RR points only to RR credits. 16 RR credits automatically create a Standard Award which is 2 one way flights.

Gotcha - thanks for the quick response.
On Airtran.com I see "Rewards Unavailable" on the 23rd and on the 26th coach awards are VERY limited.
On Southwest.com my preferred flights are 9,480 and 7,080 points, respectively. I'm not sure how to figure out what the converts to in terms of a standard award though although I want to say 1 standard award = ~19,000 points.

1 Standard Award = 16 Credits = 2 flights. Each Credit costs 1,200 Points so each flight is 9,600 points. In your case purchasing with points is cheaper than credits, if you have the points. Originally Posted by nichojo

However if you are trying to use Airtran Credits you need to check to see if Standard Awards are available, they are capacity controlled like A+ Rewards. With points that low I would expect to see Awards available but you never know.
To see if Standard Awards are available log into you RR account look under "My Rapid Rewards". There should be a box the says "What Happened to my Awards" on the next screen you can check "Standard Awards Availability".
Please be aware there were some quirks in the system and the calendar has not always been correct for an account with available Awards, or you can call Southwest and ask.
