I received my card today and confirmed the offer with rep. I asked for the card to be shipped ASAP while calling CHASE reconsider dept and they shipped it via 2 day UPS shipping

Usually it takes about 5-7 business days for the card to arrive by standard shipping

I got mine today. It was here 2 days after the card showed up in my Chase online account.

I applied on the morning of 10/5 for the offer that was supposed to expire on 10/4. I called Chase and they said that the offer was still valid via the phone/internet as it was still showing in the system. I decided to apply and got a pending approval. I called the recon line and had to move $5k from another card to get approved.

I received my card today. It has a nice red border around the card. When I called to activate the card I was told that I would receive 38,400 points after spending $2K in 3 months. I told her I was supposed to receive 32 credits. She said that 38,400 points was equal to 32 credits.

I am not extremely versed in Southwest and AirTran. Is it possible that we are receiving Southwest points? If we do, is it possible that they can be used towards the companion pass?

Thanks for any input on this!

Congratulations on your new card! It's the Chase rep that doesn't understand. Basically, it's like this:

The card will earn you points which will then be automatically converted to Airtran A+ rewards. When they say 32000 points - to us - that means 32 A+ rewards. I have also noticed that the Chase reps don't really understand the "2 business class upgrades upon first purchase." Naturally this is simply 8 A+ rewards (but they will understand it as 8000 "points").

No, they aren't talking about WN Rapid Reward points, but you could convert them over to RR points if you wanted to by using the tool in the WN website.

I have no idea about companion pass. If you can get that with some set amount of RR points then, yes.

Unless the conversion's changed, you can't convert to RR 2.0 points. You can only convert to WN for a RR 1.0 reward.

Anyone that received this card look at the expiration date of the credits?
Get 2 Roundtrip Flights after you spend $2,000 in the first 3 months of opening your account plus 2 Business Class upgrades after first purchase
If it is one year is it to use/book or having traveled within a year?

You should be able to extend expiration of the 32 credits indefinitely using the Transfer Two-step.

I was told by the Chase rep that the business class upgrades will expire in one year. I was told it would be sent in about 8 weeks after first purchase. I am not sure if the one year expiration is from the date of the first purchase or from when you receive it.

OK you lost me on that one.... I don't want to transfer just use the credits with Airtran.. if they are still flying out of ROC.

I can't remember if the credits are only good for one year.. if so then I can't sign up for this card yet since I want to use the credits mid Jan of 2014

thanks for your clarification... not very savvy on the transfer stuff.

When you have 16 credits (or a multiple of 16), they are given a full 12 months of life when they move from Southwest to AirTran. Then you can send them back to AirTran immediately if you like.

Southwest's new points can be used to top off your 16 credits. You can purchase the necessary points at a semi-reasonable price if you don't have them already.

It's been 2 weeks now after my first purchase and no sign of my business class upgrades. I will post back when I see them in my account. I can't imagine it will really take 8 weeks. I'm hoping when the 1st statement closes...

Not targeted (anymore?)

I saw a link to the application right on airtran.com.

https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/air...2loyaltycorner

32 bonus credits after you spend $2,000 in the first 3 months of opening
$69 annual fee.
2 CREDITS EVERY YEAR after your Cardmember Anniversary
Get 2 AirTran Airways Business Class upgrades after first purchase

As everyone knows already, transferrable to Southwest.
