I just called airtran and the rep agreed to change my 2 vouchers to A+ rewards with no hesitation. They said 7-10 days for them to show up in my account. Thanks for Info!!
Thanks for this thread. They took some vouchers that were about to expire and turned them into credits. AirTran rocks!
Not quite a VDB voucher, but fairly similar:
After a bad experience on an Airtran flight 4 months ago, I got a $50 discount voucher. I wanted to apply it to a flight from PNS-MDW in two weeks, but that (and all other PNS service) shifts to all-WN service and cannot be booked on FL.
Called up the representative and he told me that he's sorry, but there's nothing he can do. Has anyone had any experience being able to use such a voucher on a WN flight? It would be pointless for me to fly from MSY or ATL, as they are 4+ hours away!

At some point Southwest will need to address this. I would email both Airtran and Southwest through their website (if for no other reason than to create a record). Then call Southwest at 214-932-0333 Mon-Fri, 7am-8pm CT and explain the situation.
In my opinion this is something that should have been addressed a long time ago, but what do I know, I'm just a customer.
Let us know what happens.

So after sending messages to both airlines, I finally got a phone call about what to do.
Bottom line: they weren't able to give me the $50 voucher, but they did refund the $50 to my credit card. Obviously, I'm happy that they did it, but the voucher would have presumably meant more business for FL/WN.
