YVR Bag Drop
Hi,
Heading YVR - AKL, with airnz. I see there is a self service check in kiosk and bag drop function listed on the airnz website for YVR
Does this open 3-4 hours prior to departure, or is it likely to be open prior ?
Ideally I'd clear security, to airside, and sit and work away for the afternoon / evening before departure.
Thanks!

Jetside bar in the Fairmont is nice. Great food, cocktails, people watching and ability to work there
Air Canada lounge is mediocre at best for food selection, lots of places to sit at a high top and work though

I've learned from experience not to arrive at YVR particularly early. I was left cooling my heels in the miserable landside area with bags and no viable power outlets for a few hours when bag check was strictly only 3 hours in advance (admittedly this was UA not ANZ). The Fairmont bar is a great idea, wish I'd thought of that.
The Maple Leaf Lounge has something going for it - Nanaimo Bars.

It's strictly T-3. Like others have mentioned, if stuck landside I'd probably just hit the Fairmont.
There is also the landside public viewing area up on level 4 which is a newer addition and (apparently - never used it myself) has more power outlets.

If you have all day and it's a reasonable day weather wise, might actually be a good idea to take the Canada line train direct into the downtown (25 min each way and generally safe and clean) where you'll find a selection of great cafes for working in for a few hours. Better people watching too.
