Visited last night and it's a mistake I won't make again until the new lounge is finished. Was on the last flight to Wellington, which was delayed by 30 minutes, however, the staff took away the "dinner service" (salads, sandwhiches etc) and left those stranded in the lounge to scavange the marshmellows and pretzels at the coffee bar. Surely common sense would dicate that you don't start moving food, which is obviously going to be binned, until the last flight departs...

If I didn't get paid extra I would pack up on schedule so could leave on schedule.

Looking at the pictures on Stuff it would appear as if NZ has dropped the night club look of the purples, turquise and black palette. More grey and white - maybe another Foran initiative.

wondered what I was walking into. Very bizarre. Can see it’s super easy to clean but very very boring. Feels like a sterile hospital cafe. Wonder if they changed the style last minute to cut costs. Odd that it’s not aligned with other lounges.

Is this representative of the future of Air NZ?
Visiting the new AKL Domestic Lounge today didnt quite bring the joy I expected. It is literally a grey and white utilitarian seating area with new views and no interesting interior design details.
Utilitarian. Basic. Ordinary.
I was left wondering - is this what a new Air New Zealand is about to become?

Pretty much a standard-issue UC; certainly looks like the fit-out was scaled back.
That said, my main [edit: previous] complaint when solicited for feedback was the state of this lounge after meal times. So if the bathrooms are re-done and the whole thing is easier to clean, then that's alright by me.
Makes me twice as glad the WLG domestic lounge was completed at full budget before covid..
