Question Strange email from AF: Confirmation Required – Refund Request

I have received today an e-mail - looking genuine - titled "Confirmation Required – Refund Request for Reference XXXXXX"
from [email protected]
and inside my name and "It appears that you have submitted a refund request for the booking reference XXXXXX"
my name is correct, booking reference is correct, it also says "If you did not initiate this request, please disregard this email. "

But I have not requested any refunds for that booking. If someone did - they had my name and booking reference.
Or it's just a mistake on AF side? Has it happened to anybody here?
I have tried to search for quotes from this email - but nothing come out.

Can’t say a thing about the e-mail, I know there should be a list somewhere, but that seems really weird to me.

Could just call them to see what’s up

That is even weirder.

Could it have anything to do with the data breach a while back?

I don't have any signs suggesting that my email or phone is compromised. I know that I have not shared this reservation info with anybody - and accessed it in web browsers on my own computers, and in AF app.
Booked via AF website a month ago, last leg flown a few days ago.

I'll try to contact AF tomorrow - what is the best channel to contact them with something like this?

Seems an awful lot like phishing/fraud. Call AF directly.

I'd think so too if it weren't for the fact that the email explicitly tells customer to not do anything if they didn't initiate the refund. A phishing attempt that tells you to not do anything? I don't think so.

It's more likely that AFKL is (finally) implementing two factor authentication for ticket cancellations following multiple cases where people got their tickets cancelled by scammers.

I called AF, talked to someone from Flying Blue, they put me on hold, 15 minutes later got disconnected. I'll try by e-mail.

btw - this is not two factor, because it does not look like an automated email, but something sent by a human. There is even a name at the end.

Is it possible that your flight triggered an automatic refund of taxes or such? If you look at the same ticket for a flight tomorrow, are taxes lower than what you paid by chance?
