Master thread : AF new and cancelled routes

You guys probably saw/know that already but, just in case, in a recent email from AF, they announced that they will be:

- direct CDG-CTA flights from 27/03/18

- CDG-SEA flights from 25/03/18

- (direct?) CDG-TPE flights from 16/04/18

- (direct?) CDG-NBO flights from 25/03/18.

No indications regarding planes/config though.

Some flights have a BEST cabin. For example I'm booked SEA - CDG on a 777-200 in August (I'm crossing my fingers for the plane to stick, I'm not dreaming of a NEV4 instead of a Best seat )

Thanks for this, Goldorak. A couple of rather surprising routes in there, in particular Marseille-Caen 4 times weekly?

IKA by AF becomes seasonal (note that it was a route transferred to Joon). The route will be stopped for the winter season (from end oct.). KL will continue to fly there year round. Customers having AF tickets will be transferred to KL.

FURTHER UPDATE :
it seems that the route will be axed by both AF and KL. Last flights around mid-September for both airlines.
https://www.routesonline.com/news/38...late-sep-2018/

BA is also reducing frequencies and I remember having read other airlines axing IKA as well.

DFW (AF) and UIO (Joon)

Today, AF announced 2 new routes starting for summer 2019 season :
- DFW starting march 31. AF mainline A332 equipped with new J/W/Y seats
AF0150 : CDG 10h10, DFW 13h50
AF0159 : DFW 15h45, CDG 8h15 (D+1)
From March 31 to June 30 and from Sept 4 to Oct 25, 2019 : flights operate on wednesday, friday and sunday
From July 1st to Sept 1st: flights operate on monday, wednesday, friday, saturday and sunday

- UIO starting May 14. Operated by Joon A343
AF210 : CDG 13h10, UIO 18h05
AF211 : UIO 19h50, CDG 13h50 (D+1)
From March 31 to Oct 26, 2019 : flights operate on tuesday, thursday and saturday

I have to say, I am skeptical with DFW : AA fortress, AF already failed after one season back in 2000/2001 IIRC and KL is seasonal (I think) and it remains a weak route (I think). May be it means that KL will stop DFW and will be replaced by AF.
The best news is that, finally, the retrofit of A332 is confirmed !

Opened April 2001.
Closed October 2001.

9/11 was part of the picture though.

for sure. Of course I hope AF will be successful to DFW, but it’s a tough route for non-OW carriers.

Glad to hear Air France will return to DFW! It was certainly short lived last time. As you say with DFW being an AA fortress hub and very one world heavy it will be a difficult route for them. AA typically has higher prices on their direct flight to Paris and I'm sure in typical AA fashion they will lower their fares to the bare minimum to make it difficult for AF to build their market.

I am not sure that I would describe this as being especially typical of AA. I would have thought that pretty much any business does just that in such a situation.

Just found about DFW through the AF newsletter - somehow missed this here in the forum. Also glad they add this route, right now the connection from Germany to DFW on ST carriers involves transferring in ATL. I hope the route will survive the year 2019.
