This thread is about AC giving a free bump up in status when one is very, very, very close to the next status level at year end.

FAQ: I am X miles/segments/dollars short of status. Will AC give it anyway?

Hi Everyone:
Yesterday I was scheduled to fly SFO-YVR-YYZ (AC 563 and AC8), a trip that would put me over the 50K threshhold for the year. However, since AC 8 was delayed by about 4 hours, I was put on AC 738 SFO-YYZ direct leaving me at about 49,700 miles for the year with no travel planned until Jan 1.
...
My question is (1) whether or not AC might give me E50K anyway due to the circumstances? and (2) Who can I contact at AC to explain my situation?
After all, I did have a ticket to put me over the threshold and it was only the reroute that left me slightly short. Definitely don't want to be stuck in watered down E35

Short on SE miles;Who to contact at AC
I decided to not do a mileage run at the end of the year to reach SE as decided to spend time with family and friends as am away too much as is.I ended up with 91,654 status miles
Who would be the best person at AC to contact to make my case of why they should exercise their discretion on my behalf and grant SE status.
Thanks.

In my circumstance (#59 above), I called aeroplan and they gave me a special email at Air Canada to write and explain the situation. The reply suggested that they won't begin to look at these appeals until February so you'll likely have to wait some time for a response. Good luck....

Would AC give Elite 50 for 49,800 miles?
I think I have one last flight of the year on *A (US Air + AC), and my best calculation shows that I'd get to 49,700-49,800 miles. Do you guys think AC would give me Elite 50 next year? or should I add one extra stupid leg to cover that 200 miles?!

Quite probably they would, but they have no obligation to do so and who knows how long it would take them to get around to it. If you can tweak your itinerary to add a leg at minimal cost/convenience, I would do so.
