Due to it's proximity to the ocean ANC is warmer than YWG.

ANC is a popular summer destination. AS flies YVR-ANC and some US carriers (AA, NW/DL, CO) offer a lot of extra capacity during the summer months.

Folks,

Please recall that if you do not like another poster's comments, for any reason, the only appropriate action is to use the Report Bad Post function.

It is not to respond in turn with a personal attack on the poster, as this in itself is a violation of the Terms of Service you agreed to when signing up for FlyerTalk.

For now, I am also locking this thread pending review by the FT moderation team.

Thank you,

Is Anchorage, being on the coast, really colder than Winnipeg in the winter season?

According to the US weather channel web site:

the coldest months in both cities are in Jan.

For Anchorage, average low/high (C) -13/-6
For Winnipeg, average low/high (C) -23/-13

I checked random dates in July. One way tickets from ANC to YVR range from $448 to $710. That's absurd.

I see some good prices for Cruises from Vancouver to Anchorage for $499 per person on a 7 night cruise. Since the airfare alone will cost me $1000 + Per person, I was thinking of using aeroplan miles. wouldn't you know it that on a brand new route, there are no classic seats. Go figure!

*correction, after 5 date changes I finally found a classic award. yhz-yyz-yvr-anc. Downside is I have to overnight in yvr.
