The Real ...(tm) is that there were apparently 0 captains, copilots, or cabin crew looking to dead head from Toronto to Winterpeg.

Laser strike hits Air Canada pilot

OTTAWA—The pilot of an Air Canada jet was left with blurred vision when someone aimed a laser at the aircraft during its approach to Pearson International Airport.

The incident — one of a spate of laser strikes last month involving flights into Pearson — is yet another reminder of the dangers of these devices, federal Transport Minister Marc Garneau told the Star.

The Air Canada Rouge Airbus A319 with 113 passengers onboard was lined up for landing following a flight from Panama City, Panama when it was struck by a green laser.

Jazz DH8D at Toronto on Nov 9th 2017, hard landing, aircraft departs for return flt

On the same day as the reported laser strike, December 1, 2017...

Jazz DH8D at Toronto on Nov 9th 2017, hard landing, aircraft departs for return flight

The aircraft rolled out and taxied to the apron.

The Canadian TSB reported the flight crew consulted with company maintenance, performed a visual inspection of the aircraft and found no anomaly. It was subsequently decided that a hard landing inspection was not required and the aircraft was returned to service under minimum equipment list requirements with the flight data recorder caution light remaining illuminated.

Well now, how can this be possibly considered a hard landing? Seems positively cushy compared to the hard-landing-as-defined-by-AC YHZ version. 🙄

Extrapolating from some commentators here, as long as the aircraft eventually makes contact with the runway at some point and the fuselage remains intact (engines not necessarily) it was a "landing" and not a "crash". Adding modifiers like "hard" to "landing" is just being verbose.

I was only quoting the article. None of those words were mine.

I used to test fly these things for a living - you're incorrect.

There is a distinction between landing, hard landing, and crash. They're very valid terms.

Tally ho

Today B763 FIN 642 YVR-ZIH operating as AC 1722 rejected takeoff leaving YVR due to blown tire. Flight cancelled until tomorrow.

Many unhappy campers.

There is also a CRA sitting on the runway in YWG (Yes, on topic), surrounded by emergency vehicles, with blown tires.

I've been delayed so many times when C-GSCA was operating with mainline. Good to see she's keeping it up at Rouge !
