please help
I know that I am probably posting this in the wrong form. I am a member here as of five minutes ago. I have a technical question about booking a flight online on the Air Canada website. There was a time when I was able to simply type in the first few letters of a city (i.e.: TOR - for Toronto) and I would get a little drop down menu that would allow me to click on the airport I wanted. This no longer happens. Now when I type the first few letters of the city from which I am leaving, nothing happens. I end up typing the entire city's name and I still don't get the correct prompt with the airport code. Because of this, when I finsih typing all my info and then hit SEARCH, nothing happens. The person I spoke to in Technical Support said the if I went through the "websaver" section, I would get the drop down little menu with the airport and airport code. This is true. He said that my problem could be a JAVA issue, so I upgraded my JAVA. Still, I have to do this round about "websaver" thing to book my flight. Is there anything else I could do so that I can just book a flight (like I used to be able to do) without having to go through this "websaver" page. The problem with the "websaver" page is that after I use it, I have to delete all my Air Canada site cookies or I cannot get back to the Air Canada site at all. This probably made no sense. I tried to explain it as best I could. If anyone can assist me, I would appreciate it and apologies if I posted in the wrong section.
Thanks

I can't help you, but I'm sure a moderator will be along to move your post to the Air Canada forum where you will most likely receive a prompt and helpful response.
In the meantime, you might search the AC forum here to see if others are reporting a similar problem.

Did you recently make any changes to your browser? Do you get the little pop up window that says to type the first three characters of your city airport country or state? Are you using Internet Explorer or did you recently change? You haven't downloaded the beta for IE8 have you? When I early beta tested IE7 this was very common, I've been using 8 for a week on another machine and have not seen it yet, but it could be.
And of course, if you haven't tried yet, reboot and try again.
Disable popup blockers if you are not getting the popup telling you to enter the first three and try that.

1. move or resize existing windows, and
2. Disable or replace context menus.
I have pop-up windows blocked, and the three letter thing works fine.

You can use the ICAO airport code. YYZ for Toronto. I can't believe you wouldn't figure out the code, it is so logical
If I type TOR into the box on ac.com it give me a choice of Pearson or Hamilton

Hi guys,
Thanks for all your help. I will try to answer all your questions. I have not made any changes to my browser that I am aware of. The weird thing is, I used to have no trouble typing in three letters and getting the airport code. I tried the pop up blocking thing (I think I did it right) and I had no luck. Everythiing under "scripting" is enabled in my internet options. My hunch is it is a JAVA thing but i don't know what. I also tried using just the airport codes and this did not work.
As I mentioned in my earlier post, if I click on "websaver" then scroll down to "book now" - it works. What is different here? The thing is, the second I use this method as a way of booking, I have to delete the cookies on the site or I cannot get onto it again. Any other suggestions??
Thanks for all your suggestions so far.

If you don't get the menu, you can't select and you can't enter anything actually.
It's part of the continued effort from AC to make their page more fancy, more complex and less resilient. Less resilient to both problems on their end and at the customer's (oops, I don't think they understand that word?) end.
As in the current case. (BTW, I know because the same problem happened to me once. Although closing Firefox and reloading made the problem go away.)

Sorry I had missunderstood the problem. I don't work off the web-site...yet! The new reservation system is supposed to have us working on a web based platform. Kind of a scary thought for me. I guess we will get used to it. I just hope it's a stable site. I am sure I will be trained soon as a web-support agent and may understand this stuff a bit better at that time. Again, my apologies for the confusion.

Hmmmm.....Firefox has made me wonder. I didn't think I had this on my system but when type it into "search" I find it. The thing is, I have no clue how to disable it. Any suggestions? Also, I seem to recall being told that there was a way to enable javascript IF you have firefox. How do I do this?
