Pass Problems

Just a note to people if you use your "pass product" and upgrade in advance... more than 24 hrs using a cert. you cannot change your booking online.
First you call web support, then they transfer you to "pass products" then pass products, transfers you to AC reservations. Oh the wonderful world of AC IT........

I simply call a concierge office and get them to do it. It can always be done at the gate also I believe.

The OP could be SE if he supported the airline with more flights during the year.

Correct. More flights on cheap fare rather than fewer flights on more expensive fare. SE can be achieved by distance and segments flown, not revenue contribution.

The more expensive fare is done on UA because there were lousy planes on AC routes until recently when XM planes and now the 777 started to show up on long haul runs.

I have done the "cancel cert upgrade/substitute pass upgrade" procedure half a dozen times through AC reservations without incident. They seem to be getting more used to it as time goes on. I'd just call back and try for another agent. It is certainly too bad that it can't be done online.

If one has the telephone reservations agent do anything to a particular itinerary of a flight pass, one can not do anything further on-line.

For example, I have requested cross-referencing our (ie 3 people) bookings - I could not upgrade on-line. If I wanted a special meal (after the upgrade has been done) - no luck either. I can go on and on.

Have done this quite a few times as well without incident ... until yesterday.

When I made the switch, the SE agent did not remove the 'COLLECT CERT' (or similar) notation on the file. Had a major problem with grouchy check-in agent who had absolutely no clue about 'cancel cert upgrade / substitute pass upgrade' situation. All she saw was that I had a 'J' seat, booking class was 'M' and the instruction to collect a certificate.

Major confusion. She refused to issue me a boarding card without a certificate. I had to call a concierge to sort it all out.

I would think the Agent could somehow return your file to "auto pilot" even after they have touched it. AC lurkers?

My first post (after being a very impressed lurker) so sorry if it sounds ignorant or should be in another thread ;-).

I'm traveling on a North America Flight Pass from LAS to YOW in a week and got afternoon routing through YYZ. I would prefer to go via YVR on early morning flight with husband but it's sold out.

Anyone have experience standing by with Flight Pass? I've used them quite a bit but never tried to stand by. Thanks!

Is it a latitude or T+ pass? On latitude you can change flights at any time. Therefore if the YVR flight is before the YYZ/YOW flight you can go standby.
The mechanics are that you must keep your original flight and present your BP to the agent and ask them to change flights for you at the gate.

ON a T+ pass its much more difficult if not impossible to do that same manouvre.
