A) Will probably just go over 35k on AC to retain E. Will most probably do over 100k EQM this year but put the remaining miles on another program, see C.

B) No, choose the SSWU

C) SQ as I'm based in SIN nowadays but will most probably go on AC metal three times a year on my trips to YUL

D) 2 years, one as E

k22 Mar 14, 2006 5:10 am

A. Are you expecting to:
1) going for SE at 100K

B. Did you choose the bonus EQM to give you a head start? No

C. If you are stopping early at 35K due to the changes in the Elite, which other program do you plan to build status in? NA

D. How many years have you had status with AC (include CP if you were ex-CP)? How many years at E or SE? If your current profile does not have other Elite staus you hold, please state them too. 5 or 6 at E, last and this as SE

Shameless bump... Inquirying minds want to know.

why fly Mar 15, 2006 10:30 am

A. Are you expecting to:
1) going for SE at 100K, NO
2) E at well between 35K and 100K I am not sure I will get any status with AC
3) E at 35K only IF I go for E it will be ONLY 35K
4) drop down to P at 25K Not an option
5) not going to qualify for status on AC.

B. Did you choose the bonus EQM to give you a head start? No SSWU

C. If you are stopping early at 35K due to the changes in the Elite, which other program do you plan to build status in? UA

D. How many years have you had status with AC (include CP if you were ex-CP)? How many years at E or SE? If your current profile does not have other Elite staus you hold, please state them too.

I guess I have been E and SE for 10+ years I have oneworld Status and UA 1K

aa440 Mar 15, 2006 6:06 pm

A. Are you expecting to:
3) E at 35K only

B. Did you choose the bonus EQM to give you a head start?
Yes - I don't have much control over where or how much I travel for work. I will probably need all the help I can get!

C. If you are stopping early at 35K due to the changes in the Elite, which other program do you plan to build status in?
I've topped out at 40K the last two years thanks to personal travel, but I'm planning to cash in some reward tickets this year. If I have any extra flying over 35K, they'll go to AA.

D. How many years have you had status with AC
Elite since mid-2004.

An interesting question, with interesting responses. ^

I plan to hit SE again.
I've had AC status for most of the current millennia (which still makes me a newbie) :)

Although I am not entirely happy with some of the changes AC has made to the top tier status programme, I am very much looking forward to the fleet improvements and improvements in service (crossing fingers), although I was almost failed by a YYZ concierge early this week. Due to changes in how upgrade certs can be used, it looks like I will actually be sitting in the back on more flights where I pay Latitude and Latitude Plus fares this year. :(

On Latitude and Latitude Plus fares you would think AC might implement a Y-UP fare given the changes- this would make sense

A. Based on life events either will be 1, 2 or 3.
B. Nope... took the SSWU's.. used them and two from last year by this weekend (2 long haul RT's).
C. If I do change, it will go to MP.
D. Been Elite for 3 years IIRC. Prestige for dunno how long before that.

I think any pax willing to pay for even a latitude fare who has status should be given a complimentary upgrade if there is space. They're only using a NAU which is basically useless, just give them the upgrade for free if they're paying that much money for a ticket.

A. Are you expecting to:
1) going for SE at 100K,: Unsure, but I wish. Last year I mist SE by 17K
2) E at well between 35K and 100K: most probably
3) E at 35K only: it may happen
4) drop down to P at 25K: no
B. Did you choose the bonus EQM to give you a head start? : Yes, just in case
D. How many years have you had status with AC: 3 year as elite

I should hit Elite in June, after my second trip to PRC. AP elite program is tailored for YUL to Asia travelers. I get a SWU for each trip. I never needed the SSWU since the fare difference between Q and H is lest than 100.00$. So the downgrade of the 45K SSWU to SWU is not affecting me as others NA travelers. On the other hand, not being able to trade SSWU for 3 x SWU is a nuisance for me. Now I cannot have in hand extra SWU to upgrade customers traveling with me. I have to find reasons to leave before or after the customer. I would not be comfortable sitting in front when the customer is in Y.

I agree completely with you- this wouldn't work. In the worst case scenario give your client the upgrade.

djjaguar64 Mar 16, 2006 10:05 am

Will only aim for E. But I am not happy about the 75K mark to get the SSWU's.

NewToCanada Mar 16, 2006 10:49 am

A. Are you expecting to:

3) E at 35K only. I typically fly somewhere between 50 and 60K. I once got to the 75K mark with AC. (That was back when we got some nice bonuses.) Last year I flew 45K with AC and put the balance in US. This year I will stop accumulating with AC at 35K.

B. Did you choose the bonus EQM to give you a head start?

No, don't need it. Prefer the SSWUs and the bonus miles. Still can't figure out why bonus miles are optional, since this is such an incentive to fly with partners over AC.

C. If you are stopping early at 35K due to the changes in the Elite, which other program do you plan to build status in?

I am flying enough with AC to get to 35K and the balance is going with whatever flights are cheapest. I like having miles in a variety of accounts so that I can more easily get tickets. Plus taxes are so much cheaper with other airlines that the miles are more valuable elsewhere. I also now feel free to fly AC tango since I'm not so concerned about status miles. Congrats to AC on devising a plan that gets me to buy down!

D. How many years have you had status with AC (include CP if you were ex-CP)? How many years at E or SE? If your current profile does not have other Elite staus you hold, please state them too.

This is my 4th year as AC elite. I'm afraid I'm not so new to Canada anymore...

ChrisA330 Mar 16, 2006 10:54 am

A. I expect to be around 45K this year

B. Chose 5k bonus miles, not knowing what my travel would be like this year

C. Nope - most the flying will be domestic, won't earn enough over 35K to make it worth my while.

D. Last 4 years as Elite, Prestige the year before.

itinerantnomad Mar 17, 2006 7:16 pm

A. Option 3 - E at 35K only, though I might not make even that this year.

B. No - preferred SSWU to the mileage

C. I will stop shortly after 35K (if I even aim for it), as there is no major incentive now. However, it's a combination of events, including the elimination of the 45K SSWUs, prompting this change for me. BA has started discounting its WT+ product, as long as booked 6 weeks/42 days in advance, while granting the coveted tier points required to move up to Silver or Gold in the BA Exec Club program. So, I will earn BA Silver later this year. Afterwards, I will probably remain with BA as I'd need only about 4 transatlantics per year (which I do easily) to retain 1W Sapphire on an ongoing basis.

D. Been an AE member since 1992, Elite for about 7 years, Prestige for 2 of those 13 years.
