Honestly -- why? What can there possibly be to be proud of in that statement. The whole "university experience" and immersing yourself somewhat in the surroundings is half the point. Otherwise, you might as well live at home and save money on living expenses and cross-country fares.

to be honest you do get a chance to practice french, but not to the extent that one would think. I've picked up a bit here, but French was never one of those classes that I did well in. I came to BU because they have small class sizes and it's a small campus.

.....and if you remove the word "french" from that statement, I don't think the meaning is any way altered.

Wouldn't Victoria been a good place for you and your parents btw?

Why don't you save your familly some dollars and keep studying at home? Nobody will miss you at Bishop's...or in Quebec for that matter.

If I would had have a chance to study abroad, I would have learned the local language regardless of what it might have been. You have a great chance but you are a spoiled kid and you don't care, so stay home.

BTW, is your Dad reading your posts? If he is, he must be quite shamefull!

Maybe it's also because they do accept small minds...

Proud of the fact you haven't had to learn French?????

I happened to learn some very interesting French words sitting across the table from Super Larry at the Peel Pub one evening! 15 of the best months of my life were spent in YUL immersing myself in the culture, and no it wasn't because I only lived 2 blocks from St Denis!!!

For shame, as the folks here in LHR might say.

What does it have to do with "class" ? Do you not get out and mingle with either fellow students or the community you are living in? What's the point of going away from home if you remain in a homogeneous environment, especially when you're surrounded with the wonders of Quebec???
