That's a Tango fare, it'll earn you 250 non-status miles. So this promotion will get you an extra 250 for a total of 500 non-status miles each way.

M/U/A are Latitude fares which are only available online. I originally purchased a ticket in H class, as that was the least expensive at the time. However a last minute change required me to leave a day earlier. I called the day before my new departure date and the agent rebooked me, and charged me the additional $1000 or so as well as the change fee. What surprised me was that the agent rebooked me in R class on the outbound and I class on the return. I was surprised as I thought the R/I/G fares were also only available online. I suppose it might be different if you are changing a ticket as opposed to purchasing a ticket, but I still thought it strange. |
Ken - that reply of mine was referring to the YYZ-YVR question which privatejet asked.
Domestic M/U/A are only available online while transborder ones are available from AC reservations. Were you flying on a transborder itinerary? |
What about W fare on UA? I'm about to book one of the cheap flights YYZ-MEL ($1200 return, taxes in) and it's W class. I asked about this months ago and was told that W on UA (which is not the same as 'our' W - rewards ticket) will earn status points. Is this still true?
Many thanks, and bravo to you Empress for this terrific thread. H |
You're right; W on UA will earn you status miles on any Star Alliance FF program.
|
Any chance in the near future, that C fares internationally, like present domestic and transborder routes, will earn the 25% COS bonus (as status miles).
I say that, because anytime I have to travel (eg for business) across the Atlantic, and if the most economical business class seat can be purchased (often, depending upon various restrictions of the ticket) is a C class ticket, I would intentionally often go on the Star Alliance partner, with the 25% COS bonus, rather than on AC, with no such COS bonus. |

Yes, there are no restrictions on transborder standby yet.

I am trying to search for YVR-LHR fares on Travelocity.ca. It will only give me one page of fares, ending with a B Fare variant, how do I get it to show me the rest of the fares, ie the second page?
|
I'm not sure about Travelocity, but the lowest fares option on Expedia is not bad, as long as you enter a single airline. But note that it doesn't always give all the fares.

Not really a way to do it as there are too many fares for YVR/LHR so it gets cut off.

and plug in some dates on flights and select Air Canada (or whichever airline you want) and "fares" (rather than schedule) and it will show you all the fares. You can see the rules too although they are still not comprehensive but they do give you a good idea. You can get routing info off of cheaper fares that are listed on Expedia and other missing info off of fares listed on Travelocity (usually lists them all if you keep going with the view more fares button). |
Thanks Gents.
I am looking for a M fare to LHR ex YVR this summer. My daughter and I will be going for a week, giving Mrs T a sanity break before next midget arrives:p I'm trying to decide between a full J for myself and BATCAT for my daughter, or two M fares. If the two M fares are very close to the same price or less than one J fare, then I will do that. I know that M does not exist on YVR-SYD, maybe the same is true for LHR?? |
taupo, there is a M fare for YVR/LHR. The fare basis is M2CA and it should cost around $2700. Even if you buy 2 M fares, it will still be cheaper than using BATCAT and your daughter will earn points too.
