AC switching from Coke products to Pepsi?

I'm hearing rumours that AC will switch from Coke to Pepsi in April.

Please tell me this is an April Fools joke...

EDIT - checked the menu for my upcoming flight... yup. switching to Pepsi.

Sounds like wonderful news to me if true.

Is this in flight? In lounges? Everywhere globally?

Sounds like it's flights and lounges.

I quit. AC will be sending UA a lot more $ for my lounge visits at SFO going forward.

This was the ONE THING they were doing right, where there was no opportunity to possibly do better.

If I were the CEO of AC, I'd quit over this.

Completely agree, heads need to roll over this decision.
CEO, comms for timing of this on April 1st, inflight services

Clearly the whole Rousseau thing was meant as a distraction from this!

Air Canada giving the people what they want, as usual...

Coca-Cola dominates the U.S. carbonated soft drink market with roughly 44% market share, compared to Pepsis 25%

No Coke, Pepsi. It's not a lounge, it's a John Belushi skit.

I guess Rouging the drinks cart WAS the next logical step.

This is a huge fail, I hate this.

Apparently they are nowhere near as tone-deaf to Quebecers as we thought:

In Quebec, Pepsi dominates the soft drink market, holding over 60% of retail sales compared to roughly 25% for Coca-Cola. This market reversal, where Pepsi severely outsells Coke, stems from successful 1980s marketing, creating a strong cultural preference often dubbed "Ici, c'est Pepsi".

The only thread that will bring more disagreement to this forum than arguing over the CEO and Canadian language politics: Coke versus Pepsi on the plane.

Do you care what brand of gas goes in the plane or what farm the chicken is sourced from?
Why does the brand of carbonated sugar water elicit so much emotion? If I'm going to drink that stuff, I have a slight preference for Pepsi, but I certainly don't avoid places that don't have it. I'm not 3 years old...

Am I the only person who can't tell the difference between Pepsi and Coca Cola? I mean I can probably tell that they are different side by side, but I probably won't be able to tell you which one is which.

They are all interchangeable to me.

If I'm going to spend 100+ hours aboard Air Canada flights each year - making me a relative lightweight around here - I'm actually pretty comfortable having a few preferences in what I do and don't enjoy about that experience.

If you don't care about this topic, I'm not sure why it's important to you that anyone who DOES have a preference should somehow feel shame about it.

I don't drink soft drinks anymore, but I imagine it's the same as changing the liquor you serve on board. Let's put it this way, if im going to a michelin restaurant and they have a bad liquor menu, I'm not going to enjoy it as much as I could have.
