What's the source for this?
There's no bulkhead between J and Y on the CR9. I haven't looked closely at the photo, but if it's what you say it is, the only bulkhead screens are row 1. There's the gallery, lav, etc, but it's a lot less far than if there were a J/Y bulkhead.
The CRJs were retired and never had IFE to begin with. The CR9s have undergone various changes. There's a thread with details, but for this conversation, some of them had IFE disabled but not removed.

The flight status page for AC 8646 is equally interesting. But I guess they don't have it setup for the edge case of a flight never arriving at the gate.
My heart goes out to all the crew operating, it'll be turbulent days ahead.

Per ATC recording, fire truck rolled out to assist an United aircraft, which reported odor at the rear of the plane. That same United aircraft also experienced 2 aborted takeoffs (?), and did not receive a gate to return to - events leading up to the tragic collision between the Jazz aircraft and the fire truck.

For those unaware, NY Post has video and reports;
- two pilots dead and
- two Port Authority who work on the Port Authority Police Department’s Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter Unit, which is staffed by police to respond to aircraft emergencies — suffered broken bones and are expected to survive,
- A female flight attendant was ejected through the front of the aircraft while still in her seat during the crash — and survived.
Fortunately the fuel tanks were not punctured and a fire was avoided. It would have been. devastating otherwise. The one remaining AC FA, will have had to deal with this alone. The images indicate no exit chutes were deployed, with wing exits used. This is going to be one awful event to process for the surviving FAs and passengers. 76 passengers, 4 crew.
