FlyerTalk Forums Expert How-Tos and Guides
Last edit by: tcook052
This new annual thread has been carved out of the previous thread in an effort to reduce the number of megathreads on the AC forum. For those interested previous versions are the original 2004 - 2014 thread , 2015 edition, 2016 edition , 2017 edition, 2018 edition, 2019 edition, 2020 edition and 2021 edition.

The original thread started by accident but quickly became a popular place to come and discuss off topic things such as hockey, new movies, or almost anything that wouldn't fit into existing AC forum threads. Air Canada or Aeroplan topics such as flight feedback, in-flight services issues, status or mileage earning/redemption are all topics that should go into existing AC forum threads so others can benefit from this information. Topics about hotels or airlines and/or their loyalty programs, destinations, in-flight travel tech. or anything best discussed elsewhere on FT may be relocated to that forum as this thread isn't meant to import travel topics to this forum that are better discussed on other forums. FT is an amazingly diverse and large community so members are encouraged to seek out all of its resources.

While the conversation is more relaxed as it would be in a lounge that doesn't mean however that the FT rules don't apply here as they definitely do so please refrain from controversial topics such as politics or religion, avoid profanities and treat other lounge patrons with the same respect you expect.

Seriously though, I'm not really a breakfast-as-meal person, but do often load up when I'm travelling. One of my rules of travel is "eat when you can, you never know when your next meal may be".

Besides, the French Toast sounded tasty and it was.

FOTSG mistake. I checked my carryon and flight was delayed a tad for luggage issues. I was paged to the jetway and there was my carryon and three airline employees who were concerned that my bag was making noises. I think they stacked bags on top of mine. Opened the bag and the electric shaver, toothbrush and beard trimmer were all buzzing.

That is simply hilarious!

Although it did also bring to mind a certain scene in Fight Club.

It was a bit embarrassing as I think the 'delay' was due to my bag. And everyone in PE was very interested as the GA called my name and said we are concerned, your bag is buzzing. Had to remove batteries from everything and we proceeded.

Yeah, humour aside, I can see how this could be embarrassing. Hopefully your fellow pax didn't give you the evil eye.

This is the first 'bag is buzzing' story that didn't end up the way I thought it would have.

In preparation for takeoff, I restocked my bar. And, like always, I try to add something new that my favorite app (Mixel) tells me will open up a slew of new cocktails.

Today, that meant getting some orgeat syrup.

This is an Aquadisiac. I give it 4/5.

Edit: I made a Mokokai Mule, and... I think my OJ has gone bad🙃

That drink looks like the infamous Aqua Velva from the movie Zodiac, but without the umbrella. I assume that there's some Blue Curacao in there since that colour does not exist in nature.

Orgeat is great in a bunch of drinks, but can be over done if all you taste is almond. And you can even make it yourself if you are so inclined. I'll make a lot of syrups, but not this one. It is too much like work.

Yeah I do my own simple. I need to find some demerara sugar. But orgeat? No thanks.

Also if tonight taught me anything, it's that I don't like drinks that use orgeat

I’m very glad to not have to plan COVID tests for any of my international travel this week. One less headache.

Many years ago my wife and I were leaving from NCL. We were by the boarding gate when I was paged, and two gentlemen in suits and short haircuts asked if I would follow them. Someone else remained standing by my wife. They led me out to the tarmac where my bag was sitting and they asked me to open it. Sure enough, it was an electric razor. Funny in retrospect, but disconcerting at the time.

Tragic news out of Columbia today as the Foo Fighters announced the death of their second best drummer.

If this joke came too early for you, as I said, second best drummer.
