FlyerTalk Forums Expert How-Tos and Guides
Last edit by: tcook052
This new annual thread has been carved out of the previous thread in an effort to reduce the number of megathreads on the AC forum. For those interested previous versions are the original 2004 - 2014 thread , 2015 edition, 2016 edition , 2017 edition, 2018 edition and 2019 edition.

The original thread started by accident but quickly became a popular place to come and discuss off topic things such as hockey, new movies, or almost anything that wouldn't fit into existing AC forum threads. Air Canada or Aeroplan topics such as flight feedback, in-flight services issues, status or mileage earning/redemption are all topics that should go into existing AC forum threads so others can benefit from this information. Topics about hotels or airlines and/or their loyalty programs, destinations, in-flight travel tech. or anything best discussed elsewhere on FT may be relocated to that forum as this thread isn't meant to import travel topics to this forum that are better discussed on other forums. FT is an amazingly diverse and large community so members are encouraged to seek out all of its resources.

While the conversation is more relaxed as it would be in a lounge that doesn't mean however that the FT rules don't apply here as they definitely do so please refrain from controversial topics such as politics or religion, avoid profanities and treat other lounge patrons with the same respect you expect.

Same cheese as Sunday, but caviar instead of meat. If I felt up to it I could have plated the sour cream and chips a bit better, but I just wanted to eat.

No alcohol today.

Did you pick up an extra platter from the wine bar on the weekend so that you could snack on it during the week?

No alcohol today.
Is everything okay?!?

Cheese, yes.

I got 2 caviar servings expecting to have a nice night with the calf, but with the curfew, I've decided to eat it all myself.

It's much easier to maintain my excitement for the next DO this way.

In other news, my boss called me from Italy this morning and told me to "talk to the wife and mentally prepare for significant travel". He says the company is basically expecting people to travel immediately after their respective countries drop the quarantine requirements.

Not sure when that will be for us. Not so much looking forward to X hours in a mask but if the ESWs can do it...

I think there was also some split discussion on the "where" part ... actual middle of nowhere generally inaccessible via AC, or sorta-off-the-track-"nowhere"-where-nomadic-works-and-AC-flies ... the latter being even more restrictive due to work schedule for determining the "when" part irrespective of Covid. I'd be kind of irked if there was a Do and I missed it in YQQ or YKA, mini, micro, or nano. For those of you discussing YQZ, I'd show up if I was in the area, but I can't in good conscience encourage it.

If I can non-quarantine travel to SMX, count me in!

Definitely the latter. Unless someone is going to organize and underwrite a charter with AC/Jazz, which I'm not

I think you're co-hosting this, because we need you to tell us where all the best hangouts are in YXS/YQQ/wherever and show us around, so you tell us what works

I would definitely attend a Do anywhere on Vancouver Island. BC appears close to removing official guidance to "stay local" (within the province), so hopefully those that are YVR-based would not have to deal with any ethical dilemmas travelling to - for instance - YQQ by July.

I'm definitely up for Vancouver Island1 I can drive! Ferry frequencies are being increased, so those within BC are OK, and nomadic.relief can definitely travel here. Flights are opening up, though out of province is tough and out of country unlikely.
