Important Event Notes - FAQ

  • Wasn't this in December last year?
Yes, but in previous years it was in September, which, let's be honest is much more "fall" than early December, despite what the idiot who hosts this thing wrote last year.
  • Will the YYC Fall Do offer superior dining and beverage service?
Yes. The restaurant has a very long whisky list and the best burgers in town. You can savour a sit-down meal from the à la carte menu crafted for the Do.
  • What if I like hockey puck beef?
Then you're a weirdo, but I guess you can ask them to do it.

Important Event Notes (real ones this time!)

  • The burger and Scotch theme is purely optional. Those are the specialties of the restaurant, but you're free to have a salad and a diet Coke Zero, fish and white wine or whatever floats your boat.
  • [UPDATED 26/9]: We will have access to a few of the restaurant's recent Whisky Wednesday tasting menus which offer a flight of 3-4 whiskies at a reduced price. For past Do attendees, this is the same as previous years.
  • The Do host has not achieved Dorian's level of wealth and generosity. No T-shirts or other swag will be provided. Unless yyznomad shows up with some of his headphones and other goodies.

Perhaps this means that everything else is overbooked for the foreseeable future?
Sep 28 is after the runway is back open.

I think you missed the part where I said it's Y0

American Bovine and I are confirmed in J, but I just bought the FP for canadiancalf and I, so he has no flight.

We're likely all going to reroute through YVR, but it means leaving 2 hours earlier and getting in 2 hours later, which is obviously annoying. If we can break MCT (day of departure), we should be able to take a YVR-YYC 2 hours earlier, therefore getting in at the same time. But 1855 is much easier given our work schedules than 1650.

Heh, yes, but that's the expected end of the NOTAM -- I'm guessing we'll see a replacing NOTAM extending it. And even if not, at the time of your flight it'll have been less than 48 hours and I'm not sure that's enough time to clear any potential backlog. That all said, I was only speculating.

Yes, it's Friday evening at the cabin and I'm into the rum -- I saw the J0 and jumped the gun on a chance at making a quip. Sorry about that.

90% chance I'll be in town that day. Consider me confirmed on the United codeshare.

And it's J9 Y9 now... what the actual...

Edit: Nope. I was looking at the wrong date. Serves me right for booking flights at 1am.

Usually Adam Smith will provide a cutoff date/time as the date nears, so you're still good to join us.

Also since I live near the airport, I can give a ride back to anyone who has a flight that night..
