Do we charter a 763, or buy 100 full Y tickets?

If we're doing that, then I vote for YXY. I was going to suggest it, but by the time I'd added my name, someone else had added it! I would pick late fall for that, of course!

If they made it easier to charter a flight (bidding, buy it now price, or AC Embarq), I think we already have a few FT members crazy enough to actually do it.

The key may be to allow the booking late at night after liquid courage...

I already was at one birth, that's good enough, right?

Also, "remembered" not "realised"

If it's good enough for Mrs. quantumforce, then I'm sure it's good enough for you too .

What I mean is, that if, as expert7700 suggests, someone has some liquid courageg and charters a flight, then I'd be happy to provide some company . I'm pretty sure that no amount of liquid courage would cause my credit card company to let me charter that plane!

Thanks

Ack, I'd have to lose 50 pounds to fit in any of the available t-shirt sizes.

I know that driving to a do is against the spirit of FT. But if you do come to the Maritimes, then driving is the only thing that makes sense. Just imagine having it in YYG. I could either drive than 1:50 hours direct, or I could drive 1:20 to YHZ to catch a Beechcraft to YYG. Or I suppose I drive 1 hour to YQM to catch a Beechcraft to YHZ to transfer to another Beechcraft to YYG. 50 points to the first person to use google maps to figure out which hick town I live in.

btw, don't go to YSJ. My father once gave me these words of wisdom. "Life is too short to live in Saint John twice."

I'm going to plump for Oxford, but will take half points if Springhill

I like YSJ. Though the only reason I've found to go there is to visit Campobello, Hopewell, or be in transit

It says EPIC. To me, epic includes more than drinks in a lounge. You stumble across more outdoors epic and aviation epic in places like YXY than the most cosmopolitan (read: boring) cities. Small northern towns take many city dwellers out of their comfort zones, which can be half the fun. Although admittedly, Whitehorse isn't your typical small northern town. How many towns of 25,000 can boast of four competing domestic carriers plus seasonal widebody service to Europe using 767s and 330s?

If you want aviation epic, have it at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, part of YHM. Not only do you get a chance to fly in old planes but they do catered functions, anything from dances and weddings to smaller parties.

I was really lucky not long ago when an old friend in YYZ had to drive a second car back to where he and the Mrs. lives now, in Shediac, right on Northumberland Strait.

It was my chance to visit YQB again, and then onward for my first ever Atlantic adventure. Loved Edmunston, passed through Fredericton, stayed in Moncton.

We also drove across the Confederation Bridge in a hurricane, thinking if we made it across and they closed the bridge, we'd be stuck on the other side. But then there is Cow's Creamery and the PEI Preserve Company (awesome BTW), so we would be fine.

Another day we drove to YHZ.

So you are absolutely correct, all of the drives between these cities were reasonable and beautiful.

I suspect, however, the amount of time required to fly to any of them and have a do might not include driving around time.

Which is why I listed YXY.

Personally, I'd love to do a Buffalo Air run up the Mackenzie Valley.....Hay River, Deline, Norman Wells and for the adventurous Tuktoyaktuk.

P.S. Our friends over at AS are having their AS Do this year up in BRW...on the summer solstice...how awesome is that?

(Take a look at their wiki for ideas of how we can do our EPIC in small town awesome Alaska Do 2017 BRW Summer Solstice under the Midnight Sun [June 20-23, 2017] )
