Congrats! and also interesting considering our chat the other day about fares, Bids, LMU's and such. Safe travels |

LMU may not necessarily be offered for purchase even if J>0. In one case, flight was no more than 61% full in J but no LMU was offered for purchase at check-in.
It appears, based on a very small sample of flights reported here, AC from time to time prefers to save those unsold J seats for free eUpgrade or op-up instead of offering them for sale. |

How much did you pay for your eUpgrade credit?

Data point
For the YYC Do I was on an Aeroplan Economy ticket. This time, I did not receive and email offer to Bid Up, but I did see one in the App. It showed that the outbound AC 137 was not available for bidding. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c5c8797198.png Yet, this was EF at T-24 check-in https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8bc35e2ddc.png So, I happily used my eUp credits and paid the co-pay. :p ****** For AC 156, there was a Bid Up offer https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c3146510b6.png Sometime in the middle of the night, after AC 156 opened for check-in, I looked at EF https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...fc265b051b.png Once again, I used my eUps and paid the co-pay. Given the 2hr and 45 min delayed departure of 156, I was very happy to have the lie-flat - even if sleep time was only 2.5 hours, but I was happier to pay the co-pays. :D |

It's interesting to note that despite the load (J9 R9), the flight was not opened for bid upgrade!
And also interesting that our very delayed AC 156 went out with 10 empty J. I'm not sure how they figured someone would pay anywhere close to the $620 bid for a 3 hour red-eye flight, compared to......

I’m debating if I should bid to upgrade from PE (award ticket) to J on AC31 YYZ PEK on November 9.
Can someone check EF to see the current J load? The minimum bid is $860, I do not wish to bid more than necessary— e.g. $865 or $870. Is this even worth trying? Also, can I use AC eGift Card that comes with the CIBC Visa Infinite card to pay part of the upgrade fee? Thanks! |

Should I bid now or wait? Does it matter? |

Thank you. I know J9 C9 means there are more than 9 seats available for purchase in BUSINESS. What do D2 Z0 P0 R0 really mean? And how would D/Z/P/R being low affect the bidding if at all?
Should I bid now or wait? Does it matter? While there are plenty of seats available in J, I would suggest bid now. |
