Is this an All Nippon Airways lounge we're talking about or is it just coincidentally named ANA? If the latter, why would you expect to have access as a *G? Star Gold grants access to (some) Star carrier lounges when traveling on a Star carrier, it does not guarantee access to whatever lounge happens to be at any airport a Star carrier flies to. If you want to access independent lounges regardless of carrier flown, get a Priority Pass membership.
Yes.

The lounge is not that exciting in its current locaftion, in fact, it is usually standing room only when I have been in there. I ended up simply heading to Starbucks pre-flight.

But are any of the lounges TRUE *GOLD lounges??? I believe the answer is NO
I can't believe I've never run into this before, but just to be clear is it therefore correct to say that even if a contract lounge has the Star Gold logo on a sign outside that it doesn't necessarily mean that all Star Golds flying on any Star Alliance airline are allowed in?

Well, you'd only be able to enter the F lounge if you were flying in F, so isn't *G irrelevant? I believe to enter the LH group F lounges you need to be in F on the LH group as well, which may be the explanation in this case.Originally Posted by canadiancow
I would also like to point out that AC*G was not allowed to enter the DL lounge in ATL, or the LH F lounge in MUC.

To me... a true *GOLD lounge is a lounge either marketed by the alliance as a whole (LAX TBIT *GOLD Lounge) or is an airline specific lounge with the appropriate signage. Originally Posted by witlesspax

In this case it appears that it is a contract lounge not directly associated with a *A airline and has different lounge entry requirements than a standard *GOLD lounge.

There was a lounge not eligible for *G access, and OP could not get in with *G.
This is not news.
I also was not able to get into the Centurion lounges with my *G. I had to get an AMEX card.

With perhaps a few exceptions, the LH lounge at FRA/MUC is the private domain for confirmed LH First Class Ticket Holders & and presumably Hon Circle Members. Flying TG-First FRA/BKK had me (despite best efforts) rerouted to participating Business Class Lounges in the Main Terminal Building.Originally Posted by witlesspax

ANA for those not familiar with Portuguese airports would refer to a Japanese airline.

But the post above your response had 2 questions..... Is it this or that. Your response of Yes wasn't clear.Originally Posted by PointWeasel

The ANA lounge in Lisboa refers to the acronym for Aeroportos de Portugal and their owned/operated lounge which is contracted for service to select airlines. AC is not one of those carriers, hence the refusal.Originally Posted by eigenvector

ANA Lounge (Schengen Area)
Contracted TP/LH

Hopefully this clears up my previous posting that may have caused confusion.

TAP is now private and saving money! When I asked about this last year, I was told that the area they are working on was the TAP STAR ALLIANCE lounge and they are staying in the same place! They had a horrible shower area, but the lounge and food was pretty good, visited many of times! They were also very generous as they always allowed my family in with me, and not just one guest! They were going to build a brand new Airport at the old Air Force Base not too far away, but After the Euro Crises they decided to renovate and improve the current airport which was the better choice IMHO. But like most things in Portugal, it will be slow!
